An internet company who doesn’t like adult content? That’s a big no from me.
I know exactly what you mean, but the company absolutely has no problem with adult content as long as it’s Fox, FX, FXX, Searchlight or Hulu doing the distributing.

I’ve watched a bunch of stuff during quarantine that’s technically Disney that’s highly Adult (and just came out this year).

ANYWAYYYYYYY.... COVID Enterainment & Tourism

While I've even seriously thought about moving to Orlando, Im sadly not seeing myself until 2022 for either a move or vacation to Orlando. I need a vaccine out there before I feel comfortable going again, and I want the parks to be relatively the same. I never did meet and greets so that stuff won't affect me. The lack of showtimes and the forcible masks are what will turn me away. I love a good theme park show/I typically want a break from the sun and rides, so that's a valuable experience to me in a park. Everything is changing constantly though, so we will just have to see.
Other than cheaper housing, I think OTown or Florida's prospect as a place to move to will be very poor for the next few years. After the great recession Florida actually went reverse in migration. Normally about 1k a day in and there was that much going the other way at the peak time with very few coming in.

If we only knew the stuff we came into contact with at theme parks pre-Covid

Ya, its just seeming like my vacation destination for now. Ugh.

Oh theme parks were always a hot spot for germs and stuff, but I mean this is just different. I mean hell I was there in September, maybe it was with us then and we didn't know it!

I've worked some of the dirtiest jobs at theme parks, doing what basically comes out to being janitorial with a fancier name. I've also been in entertainment and how nasty that side is. I've always known theme parks were dirty as all hell because of the jobs i've had. But I was probably scared off of theme parks way earlier than anyone thought to be simply because of what I know is hiding around every corner germ-wise. When the virus was in China, I sort of didn't give it much thought. When it hit the West Coast, I started to pay attention. When the first case came to Florida, that was it for me. I knew the theme parks were a hot spot and they were probably crawling with untested positives. I wasn't going out like that

I feel like a lot of of us were like poor China and didn’t think about it until it touched stateside and we all were like

Goes out with one last ride on Supercharged.

And also the media has turned it into panic porn, which isn't helping
I don't disagree but part of me thinks its necessary actually for this initial phase. People need to understand the severity and the second its tempered down is the second people go back to normal immediately which also isn't good. I just think this is all totally unprecedented cause it affects every inch of this country and any person possible. Not that an event like 9/11 couldn't, but its not actually happening in everyones backyards like this virus is. Just insane.

It's interesting when you try to compare this to 9/11. The thing is that I think it's undeniable that COVID has a greater effect on every single American than 9/11 did simply because of how contagious it is. This also has a potential impact on every single person around the world.

Then again, you can't actually see the coronavirus, which leaves some skeptical. On 9/11, the was very visible evidence of an attack on our Nation. And an attack on our country is a personal attack to many Americans.

These certainly aren't a 1:1 comparison by any means, but they are both events that have radically effected the our country/the world. You can't say one is worse than the other because one is a disease and one was an attack. But how people have responded to these events is what I find interesting and I think, in most cases, it's actually fairly similar.

I was like 4/5 around 9/11 so I can't compare the experience, all I can compare is how life changing it will be for everyone. Im trying not to get political here... but if we had a leader that took it as seriously as it needed to be taken, and in a day of social media where misinformation can spread rapidly, I feel this is almost worse in some ways. They obviously cant be a 1:1 comparison but in terms of long term effects and changes, I see them being the same. A defining moment of change.

To try and right the ship in this thread a bit....

AMC seems like it may have found a way to avoid bankruptcy. This $500M debt plan allows them to withstand a closure all the way to Thanksgiving, which likely won't be necessary. The movie industry has been (at least temporarily) saved.

We've had to cancel our planned vacation due next week now. They wanted an extra £2000 to move a like for like vacation to next April. Which is bonkers.

What was meant to be a once in a lifetime, out of school holidays so go deluxe type vacation suddenly wasn't.

The extra £2000 was mostly because the DDP was no longer free and lost the free $200 Disney Dollars as well, along with general price increases. To get close to the same price we'd have to downgrade from Wilderness Lodge + Dockside + DDP to Pop + Dockside without DDP.

I think it will have the same effect in regards to changing traveling procedures both officially and personally

I wonder what the equivalent of the Patriot Act will be for Covid though :X

How would you know that unless you were watching it? ;)

Right, its the craziest part of all of this. I was in Miami as sh!t hit the fan in America so ya its frightening. Don't need to leave Maine for the time being haha

Yeah, and I don’t want to leave Bar Harbor for that city-demic of Portland, Maine. Southern Maine is a hell hole of disease right now. Where do you live COC? :)

But speaking of tourism:

Right in that hell hole of Portland lol. South Portland to be exact so I'm in the middle of it. Tons of summer people are taking over OOB, its scary. Its scary! Portland has always felt super safe to me, but a move to Westbrook or Saco and being on the lake/farm has NEVER looked better haha. Been a Portlander my whole life but not loving it at this moment.

That sucks. Who did you book through? I’m expecting to have to go through the same thing, free dining was the reason I booked at the price.
