Yeah, as much as I like Kong if this has essentially the same ride system with a bus/tram type set up I can't see it working. The complaints that Kong is getting will be nothing compared to this if they go the same route. I seriously hope they're not too far in to rethink this ride.

The irony is that the IP is perfect for the studios, and F&F could be an awesome ride, which I think is part of the negativity, that its not being utilized to its full potential, not to mention it has the perfect plot of land to do something pretty grandiose, but it's.... Just not.

Despite the mixed reviews, KONG is getting g some praise for the Kong AA, the queue, and witch AA. I don't know what F&F will have to counterbalance the screens, unless they have some killer physical sets and car props.

That's basically it. I REALLY hope plans have changed for this ride. Because if it's pretty much the same thing as Kong, but with F&F and without the best elements of Kong... I feel like this could possible be panned more than the Hollywood version of the attraction.

I think the issue is that all the things that Kong have done great, probably won't translate well to F&F.

I don't think it's really a screens vs. AA/sets thing. I think more importantly you need a ride vehicle and system that's going to translate well for speed. You want it to be low to the ground small capacity vehicles that can give a good illusion of speed wether it be screens or sets. The Spiderman/TF system would be not the best but a better choice.

My expectations for this ride have completely dropped through the 35' basement they're building.. In my present state of mind I'm envisioning this as Kong East since its heavily rumored to be using a similar ride system. Then couple in the fact that they are erecting a building that will essentially serve the same purpose as F&F Supercharged Hollywood. We will probably get 2 extra scenes to add to the "plot" as well as a farewell scene with real cars and actor AA's again much like Kong.

But here is where IMO the problem lies. Kong is a great attraction because of its grand facade, story, queue, and fictional based characters and placement. If you took away all of those aspects and replaced them with a city street facade, the oh so terrible F&F story lines, a garage with cars on display, and real life settings it takes away a huge aspect of the magic that Kong possesses. Point being Kong is successful because of the total package not because of the ride portion. Take those aspects away cookie puss and your left with a basic screen based ride with very little substance and no distinction from other rides in an already screen based theme park.

I think you said it perfectly in the podcast (I think it was you) that if this was built when the first movie came out it would be something similar to Test Track and the plot would be better instead of the over the top action films that the series has become that can only be done on screens.

Yeah @Drew was actually the one that said that on the last podcast but its been something we've all talked about heavily since we found out we'd be getting a F&F ride.

I think I only realised on the last podcast that Andrew and Drew aren't the same person.

Personally, I'm finding it a little hard to complain about this. I'm looking forward to Fallon, I think Volcano Bay will be a major success and then post 2018, we have a possible 3rd gate, Nintendo and whatever else is in the pipeline. A small blip with the recent success, is probably overdue.

I think you're right on the dot. That's my feelings too. But I'm also no fan of the IP and I had my fill of car action/race movies when I was younger. So, to me, it's a double loss. Uninteresting IP, uninteresting ride....It's a shame Disaster was in such bad shape & needed to be replaced. It was a really fun attraction for us tourists (probably not so much for locals). I don't think the new F&F attraction will be as good as Disaster was when everything was working OK.

To @hatetofly; what exactly do you mean by "Screen-Heavy"? Do you mean just flat out Screens like Spiderman, Gringotts and Transformers; or are you including abnormal techniques like Musion, Projection Mapping and other techniques in a sense?

My niece hates Harry Potter, refuses to watch the films, but loved Gringotts. I think a well executed ride can trump IP.

It's just funny that Test Track lends itself so well to this IP but is themed to be a computer simulator for its plot. It's like Bizzaro world.

Oh yes, I can understand that. I was no fan of Harry Potter until I stepped into Hogsmeade & rode FJ. That made me a fan of Universal's Harry Potter. I still have never watched an entire movie or read a HP book. But I love Diagon, Hogsmeade, FJ, Gringotts, Hogwart's Express......And, if F&F, by some miracle, is a good attraction, I will instantly forget that I am bored with the IP. :)

Is it really truly 35' deep? Oooooh, they have made some major changes since I last "looked". Perhaps another scene that replaces maintenance which will now go underground? I cannot think of another reason it would need a basement.

Read the books first. They're better than the movies.

Theory: The ride is so bad they'll hide it in the basement so no one sees it.

I have to bury myself in the F&F books. I understand they are quite clever.

I'm speaking of the screen reliant attractions in the park such as Transformers, Gringotts, Despicable Me, Simpsons, Fallon, Shrek, and Terminator.

Then let me ask this, which you see happening more (Because I can't see AA's resembling the actors); a heavy reliance on Musion or more of what ROK has for plain screens? USH had Musion represented in the attraction; hence why I ask this.
