Apparently, Evil Dead is out and it was going to be based on the new Evil Dead: Rise. It was going to be set entirely in a high-rise apartment building. If Evil Dead pulled out this late in the game, they can probably have a zombie original or something. I mean, it was supposed to go in TWDA, right?

I mean let's think logically about this. While yes it takes time & effort to create a house layout & all that fun stuff. HOWEVER, we've had mazes in the past start construction closer to September due to daytime operations. Obviously things have become a tad more in favor of HHN construction starting earlier for in-park locations.

Long-winded rambling point.... if Evil Dead Rise was happening & now it's not, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Especially with how far along the other mazes currently are, with the exception of Klownz & Blumhouse.

Hell... Murdy should just do Chupucabra & bring back the Day of the Dead area in the Plaza. Factor in Llorona & we've got the most cohesive area ever seen at HHN Hollywood

I think we need a Firestarter maze at HHN Hollywood 2022 now that Evil Dead is out.

I’ve only been able to hear and see construction in the walking dead queue while in the park maybe the last 2 weeks so hopefully evil dead didn’t get toooo far along. But hey any ideas on what repeat maze might replace evil dead here in Hollywood?

Is it reasonable to think they're building a year round attraction that will debut at HHN in the old TWD space?
I wouldn't be surprised if it's Stranger Things...

Stranger Things year round attraction in Hollywood is probably the last thing that's ever going to happen. the space, outside of its HHN use, is also completely gutted.

I was actually kind of curious about that, did they tear out all the show lighting/effects infrastructure etc, or did they leave that all in there for potential HHN use down the line?

Dumb thought, but I could've sworn Murdy has brought it up as one of the options pre TWDA.

What if Evil Dead..gets replaced with a new rendition of House of Horrors? I could've sworn Murdy had spoken of the options they had for the entertainment portion of the building, and both a 2.0 of House of Horrors or a 2.0 of The NBCUniversal Experience was something they considered. Could be highly wrong, but it could be one of the far more cheaper options that they can go for (And it could even bring in another daytime venue for the park again, like what HoH was following 2006's test run).

My understanding was this was discussed but hasn’t gone anywhere.

So it's still possible. Either way, it doesn't have the luxury that a venue like Waterworld has, to where they could just plop in a repeat maze from that specific year the venue was used for it. It'd have to be pretty much a ground up maze, right? That's my wonderment here--as it is the weird wildcard of this year's event IMO.

But isn't house of horrors essentially universal monsters?

Pretty much. Universal Monsters + Chucky (plus whatever the heck that butcher guy was) + Psycho + Zombies.

House of Horrors was sorta different things, you had the butcher who was similar to Leatherface, the zombies, Psycho of course the Universal Monsters and so forth, it was a love letter to classic to modern monsters.

It's not really an opinion at this point. It's a fairly well-sourced rumor most are now considering credible.

I've heard a few reasons, but the most prominent one is that Warner Bros. is having trouble with the movie independent of the HHN attraction. Something is afoot when a movie planned for a fall release has yet to release even a teaser image by June.

Don't remember anyone mentioning it, BUT if we need a replacement & HHN wants to go the IP route... "INSIDIOUS 5"

It isn't out of the realm of possibilities. It's a popular IP for Hollywood... and instead of including it in Horrors of Blumhouse 1.0, they gave us a maze in Jurassic that year (2017). The new film is allegedly releasing this year. It's not likely, but wouldn't surprise me either

I don’t think they’d replace a house based on a movie slated for this year that we have no trailers or photos of with another house based on a movie slated for this year that we have no photos or trailers of. I genuinely think we’re looking at either
1. The purge (yayyyyyy)
2. A redo of an IP house hopefully a WB one
3. This is the least likely but maybe something that was slated for last year/ 2020 that we didn’t get
4. Dust off the old Exterminatorz and Toxxic Tunnel costumes and just put together a quick original house
Insidious could very well be a quick repeat house but i wouldn’t expect anything based on that new one

This is pretty logical. To build on this, even though the budget is increased for this year, a setback this late likely means a lot of money was already spent in the scrapped house. If a replacement that can't reuse the bulk of existing props made specifically for the withdrawn IP, they'll have to rely on in-house/already existing stuff, which means a retread of an IP house we've seen before, or a hodgepodge original. I didn't hate Pandora's Box, but I don't necessarily want to see a similar version after two years in a row. I don't feel like the IP lineup is weak enough that they need a Titans of Terror or similar to bolster the marketing push, so I'd be surprised to see another IP replacement. The Weeknd stands on his own merits and I'd be surprised if they wanted all the 80s horror icons to stand opposite Universal's Classic Monsters.
