So they're finally taking it down?

I wonder where they'll put a live actor show assuming one is happening. Would Bourne even work for that?

MOM should be a mainstay as long as the lagoon stays the same. Minimal staff to run it multiple times a night as opposed to an AOV type show, the lagoon is just sitting there doing nothing, and it is a good way to highlight the themes, IPs, and houses of the event. Plus its always nice to take a break and watch some pretty lights and drink a beer and eat a churro or something.

This show is gonna be good or bad depending on the IPs and stuff they can use. This year did not seem as good as last year because it is competing with music and imagery from ST, Ghostbusters, and Killer Klowns.

The ads don’t need to mention the Pumpkin Lord. We’re stuck on the idea that all the marketing needs to be centered around an icon if they appear. No. Simply market the event as having ST, with a nice HHN31 Pumpkin Logo.

E.g. center the marketing around IPs, center the event around an icon and theme.

I really really truly hate that. yes. absolutely...
why cant the event have an icon and marketing gets their IPs... I agree,
why is it all or nothing, hhn will always have IPs, no matter what, commercials will always feature IPs
the scarezones still need an icon.

They’ll just develop a new show. We’ve had up and down years for shows in the past - B&T, AOV. No reason they shouldn’t give it another go.

Problem with BMG is I doubt they could do pyro inside of a soundstage and HNF was filled with it.

Don't use pyro?
I know it's what made the show iconic but if push comes to shove...

I think it all just depends upon what type of shows HHN wants to bring to the table.

All I believe is that their is no way the show goes into Animal Actors.

Trying to solve the problem of the Lagoon Show, if the properties don’t have any particularly strong music… why not get a license exclusively for the show? In the style of how Universal got Rocky Horror exclusively for a live show in years past, why not do a full Rocky Horror themed fountain show? Removes the problem of callbacks if they turn it into a clip show that’s light on dialogue, has the songs, and offers a break from the heavier content of the mazes. Same idea could run with Beetlejuice, Little Shop Of Horrors (if WB plays ball…)

Does anyone know how the licensing works for the lagoon show, and if it’s under the same contract as the houses? Or is it case-by-case? I imagine Beetlejuice was a special case as it wasn’t incorporated into this year’s show.

Hey all! I attended HHN30 this year for the first time and I'm in love with it. Do you think they'll ever do an Annabelle-themed house? Especially if it's based on the Annabelle Comes Home film. So many haunted artifacts they can use for the house!

Welcome to the forums!

Personally, I think it's not impossible but also not likely. I feel like the time for that specific film being featured at the event has passed, though a Conjuring-universe house is pretty much speculated/rumored almost every single year.

Oh man, I do hope they eventually make a Conjuring universe house. I think a Nun-based house (especially if the set looks like the castle from the movie) would be dope

The bigger issue is they started construction of Grinchmas during the middle of HHN, so it's an either/or situation for what that theater is used for.

Additionally, I want to push back on the "Seek & Destroy was better received than Gorewood/Crpyt/30th" discussion I've seen as it doesn't make sense and doesn't really line up with things.

I guess it’s whether or not you’re using GSATs or your own opinion. I personally thought Crypt was weakest, but I also think Seek and Destroy pulls out ahead merely because, conceptually and safety-wise, these actors were able to be on the ground.

Didn’t Exorcist famously share a soundstage with Grinchmas, where you could smell the vomit permeate the stage? I imagine it’s been done in the past, the HHN-to-Grinchmas thing. Now that Grinchmas’ new set has been constructed the first time, perhaps next season it’ll be easier to, like a puzzle, slot Grinchmas in, allowing more time for HHN to play.

I mean, it's not like they don't have room. Grinchmas has been in SS21 for YEARS. While this is more convenient for Grinchmas, they could easily go back there if they had to. Or hell, put an HHN show in SS21 and then SS18/BMG is still fine for Grinchmas to start early.

Of course, there is always the option of building a temporary stage in Hollywood like HHN 25 & 26.

I agree here. I think there are some limits to what they can do due to the proximity of the animals that are boarded there overnight. It's also a smaller amphitheater that's heavily customized for the animal performances... and there isn't sufficient space to stage crowds waiting to get in. That area is currently a serious pressure point already.

That isn't to say they can't do a show in Animal Actors... but it'd have to be a small-scale show, ala a more intimate magic act (think Brushwood), not something big and loud like Nightmare Fuel.

In this case, I don’t see a show going in here. If you’re gonna spend money on a show, make it a show that can hold a good chunk of people. Besides, I don’t think they want an even bigger bottle back of crowds that will disrupt the Twisted Taters line.
