If Blade Runner is an actual possibility, I would venture a guess it would be more of an "original story/location" within the same universe. Possibly being chased by replicants or you are the replicant on the run from hunters.

So,

I took that consolidated list of IPs that have been mentioned in this thread and marked out the ones that I am confident (for various reasons) are not the IPs RELATED TO THIS CLUE. That does not mean the listed IP won't show up, just that it doesn't apply to the specific headliner we're trying to figure out (Popular, horror-"adjacent", divisive). This should narrow some of the focus.

(If you're clever, you can figure out a running them in what remains on the list).

I was literally in the middle of doing this but gave up. Glad I did cuz it would be awkward if we posted the same thing but mine was just slightly worse.

I'll take a crack at getting a running, inevitably will be wrong:

So we're left with...

- Hitchcock and/or Psycho
- Gremlins
- What We Do In The Shadows
- Marvel (Zombies)
- Ghostbusters Afterlife
- Buffy
- Teen Wolf
- MHA
- AoT
- Godzilla
- Casper
- The Terminator
- Demon Slayer
- John Wick
- Goonies
- Blade Runner
- Star Trek

Soooo, immediate rule-outs, at least personally.

My Hero Academia is gonna be one. Not even CLOSE to horror-adjacent, I don't understand how it was even brought up in the first place.
Marvel next, for obvious reasons.
John Wick is again not even close to a horror-adjacent.
Teen Wolf definitely has nostalgia appeal, but I'm not sure if it would be a "headliner".
I'm gonna be bold and just say Godzilla isn't happening. Would absolutely love it, but I just don't understand how it could be logistically plausible. AoT for similar reasons, plus we discussed the property not being an anime.
While I think Blade Runner would rock, I don't really see it as a "headliner", either. That's debatable though, but I don't think it has the GP pulling power of Ghostbusters or BJ to write off as a non-horror with Halloween-season love, if that makes sense.
Casper just feels a bit too family friendly, but I suppose I may be wrong.
Edit: Forgot to mention Star Trek. Also doesn't feel right for similar reasons to other non horror-adjacents.

So now... ROUND 2! FIGHT!

- Hitchcock
- Gremlins
- WWDITS
- Ghostbusters Afterlife
- Buffy
- Terminator
- Demon Slayer
- Goonies

Alright. Demon Slayer. I believe we narrowed down that animes are most likely not included. But I thought I'd play ball. I'm not a fan of the show, but it's UNDOUBTABLY horror adjacent. Super gorey, cool demon designs. It's one of the most popular things on streaming platforms right now, especially with people around 13-24. That's PRIME HHN territory age-wise. It definitely has a lot of pulling power to it, but at the end of the day, does A&D wanna bother? I'm not super into that scene, so correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm not too sure how much of a passion project a late 2010s-era anime is for the team. And I also don't really see why corporate would push the property on the design team, it seems too much like a tonal dissonance on both sides. Gonna rule it out for now.

As for Goonies, I'll take the stance of a GP member. Every single "horror-lite" property that's appeared at HHN has a reason to be there. Ghostbusters and BJ are CLASSICS that are always enjoyed around the Halloween season. And for a reason! They're spooky! I have never heard of a single person who considers Goonies a "spooky classic". It definitely has its moments, but I just don't think anyone would personally see it.

I'm going to make my final running Gremlins, Hitchcock, WWDITS, Buffy, and Terminator. WWDITS would definitely be a dark horse, but I see working. It's popular enough to be warranted and spooky enough to fit.

I truthfully don't know which one in particular. That can be for someone else to try, but there's my crack at it. Probably wrong, but this is the most fun I've had speculating here! :D

I condensed it down to Witcher, Gremlins, Hitchcock, WWDITS, Buffy, Terminator, and Blade Runner. It has to be one of these.

The Witcher was ruled out, according to Legacy! At least for this clue. Interesting that you kept in Blade Runner, though. What's your reasoning?

I feel like the only thing that makes sense out of those options is Gremlins

I'm also thinking they stay away from another vampire property because Dracula will be a Monsters feature this year (my guess, not confirmed)

It fits that "horror-adjacent" category. It's more of a sci-fi film, but it has those horror elements to it. Yes, it doesn't have the power to pull the GP like Ghostbusters or Beetlejuice, but I think it's recognizable enough to the GP that it could headline the event. Plus I like the film lol.

Let's be conscious of the fact that we are going into this with a bias of what we want to happen. Terminator and Gremlins definitely do not feel divisive to me. Those feel like properties that hardcore fans would go crazy for. I don't think I have seen a property that has been predicted more times than Gremlins for HHN31, take a look at those first few pages. Maybe the truth lies more in the properties we don't expect or think would end up being any good.

A Star Trek, Teen Wolf, Doctor Who, Casper, or Goonies house would not be huge on any hardcore fan's wishlist. In my mind, that makes them potentially closer to the truth than any of the others.

I still think Rick and Morty would make a lot of sense. It's the biggest adult animated show of the last decade, it sells merch like crazy, and the marketing team for that property loves doing in-person themed events (Rickmobile, Comic-con booths, That wendys thing). It's also not something people would immediately see and go "Oh yeah, Horror nights!". Big enough to be a Headliner, but I could definitely see people not being too into it. Especially post-fanbase lol.

Hmmm, if Legacy says there's a running theme between the listed IP's, I think it would be beneficial on figuring that out. Figure out what connects them all, and you'll know what else could be added in case the actual IP hasn't been guessed yet.

Don't think I've seen this yet, what about Arcane?

From a Forbes article:
  • 100% RT critic rating, 97% RT audience rating
  • Highest rating in Netflix history
  • Second Season already announced
  • I've never seen the show, but the music tie in was how I had previously heard of it. Features major artists such as Imagine Dragons, J.I.D, Denzel Curry, Sting, and Pusha T.
  • Ties in with the popular game, League of Legends
  • Defeated streaming records previously held by Stranger Things and The Madelorian
The trailer mentions monsters, and has tons of action and colorful set pieces. I'll attach it below. Maybe someone who has seen the show can speak more to its ability to work/not work as a house?

Arcane's a situation to where it prodominently lies itself far more into action/steampunk than anything horror. The closest thing isn't even in the show just yet (but is seemingly being teased for S2).

I'd say no on that one. My question, on the condensed list..do we know specifically if it's a "new" (never seen in Universal Parks and Resorts) IP? Or is it an "old" IP (Previously seen in Universal Parks and Resorts)? If it's the former, it cuts out Hitchcock, Terminator, Marvel, Ghostbusters (Assuming we count the IP in general), among a few others. Atleast for NA concerned.

All getting TV show adaptations? Interesting.

Well, if Chucky isn’t the answer…

Terminator is getting a TV series by the Batman writers/producers…, or at least it was gonna a year ago.

May be way off base though…

Edit: Oh my god unless it's Halo...? That's getting a TV show but that seems so incorrect.

Look at the consolidated list and think a little more broadly.

Is StarTrek a movie or a TV franchise? What about Marvel? Casper? Teen Wolf?

Again, I could be misinterpreting stuff... but this is based on some other stuff I've been told.

Just all-encompassing media franchises? All of these have film, television, cartoon, comic, etc adaptations. I might be getting colder as that doesn't really narrow anything down, but maybe that's the point hahah.

Also this clue game is fun, so thanks lol.

Not really a clue game this year. I honestly don’t know what the IP is. I’m legitimately speculating this one.
