I'm not even sure how those would translate

Visual albums are very popular in the pop scene, and pop music has always been more visually provocative

I get there are exceptions

But pop is often paired well with visuals that easily translate into 'theater' which is what HHN is at the root of its being

To add, The Weeknd's stuff is easily translatable to the type of house HHN does IMO it's quite cinematic

I feel Iron Maiden or Metallica may come across very meh like Alice Cooper

My general theory is that I trust the HHN Creative to make any theme work, so I would be fine seeing them take a crack at metal/rock bands.. I just think it’s funny how people’s brains do mental gymnastics to ignore the benefits of significantly more relevant artists (like Billie or The Weeknd) coming to the event (who also happen to have great carryover themes within their music)

Well I don’t, haha, cause he was referring to me! And since he is the keeper of the “horror cards” I’m out :)

I just sampled the Weeknd's videos again tonight and there's a LOT of great stuff for HHN on here. Anyone who disagrees has brain worms.

They did? Huh, I don’t remember! Honestly I only started getting into them in like the last about 2 or 3 months or so. I absolutely love them now, but I didn’t know any of their songs during last years event. Which one was it? And yeah, I think they legitimately have a chance. In terms of rock bands that could do it I think they’re one of the biggest and successful in the mainstream. They have several shirts and even jewelry in person at Hot Topic, that’s a sign they’re pretty big I think lol.

How would you guys feel if Cannibal Corpse have their own house based on their live staple songs? I know they’re way too niche in the theme park market, and I also know the album covers are way too graphic to promote, but they do considered their music as horror stories though.

it has to be a famous band lol. even metalheads dont know who cannibal is lol
even slipknot is not famous enough for horror nights lol. ghost is big enough, soft enough
remember that the music houses would need to appeal to teens or be extremely big, like iron mayden.

Honestly? Most of the bands listed aren't big enough for their time or attention unless it's Creative's favorite (see: Killer Klowns). Out of everyone listed NiN and Gaga seem the larger gets.

If Lady Gaga ever got a haunted house, I expect a giant Angler Fish.

the parameter i was going by is,
famous right now (Relevancy, mainstream/ marketing)
not too hard (attract non metal fans. attract teens)
or
mega huge fame where most people recognize them (from tv commercials or movies and popular culture)
and horror elements

i think Ghost kinda fits some of these. Gorillaz too. Gwar or cannibal corpse or slipknot are either too niche or too scary for teens or arent relevant right now with a new album.
but what you said is the final truth, if Creative likes the band they will make it work. as niche as it is.

If Ghost is big enough, so is Slipknot. Regardless, this convo belongs somewhere outside of 31 Spec.

Not sure about the others, but Aiello is definitely a big Ghost fan!

Also I do agree with Brian about Slipknot. I think Slipknot is bigger than Ghost overall, at least just as much.

First details on this year's app/game. Sounds like it'll tie into the Universal Monsters maze.

Ghost is my favorite band, but yeah Slipknot wayyy more popular. Took me one live show of theirs to see why. I think they’d be the best fit for a house or zone out of all the metal bands out their. Just dudes in masks and jumpsuits going apeshit
