Can someone explain to me how this relates to the shining, I'm genuinely asking, I've never seen the movie and I don't read books

Jack Torrance (Nicholson's character) is a writer who is currently going through a patch of writer's block so he accepts a job to watch The Overlook Hotel as a way to get inspiration

People are saying all sorts of things but I will say this... I think we will finally see Stephen King somehow this year. Also people are pointing out that if Murdy gets Stephen King rights he will do the "It" Remake which is a possibility. But I don't think he will just put a bunch of Stephen King Properties in one Maze. It would also make since as way to counter last year's lineup with Stephen King's "It" and "The Shining".

Sounds like a smart idea but I feel like it would upset people for some odd reason, no?

My new maze predictions (minus TWD):

- AHS

- Hellraiser

- The Shining

- The Conjuring

- Saw

- The Thing (Carpenter)

I think we'll be getting Trick 'r Treat next year for sure.

What would the facade be for The Shining though? Cause the Overlook Hotel is like equivalent to the Crimson Peak mansion and we all know how that facade ended up.

I could only imagine they'd go with the Silent Hill/Evil Dead route and just have black walls and put a bunch of trees and stuff with a car outside and sounds of a typewriter are heard as you hear Hallorann talking about the "shine" with Danny and then The Shining is projected above the entrance occasionally.

I think I just answered my own question.

Me and Chris actually thought it might be the Hedge Maze as the Facade and that it will go in the Metro Sets.

Oh yeah, that too. But then they'd have to use black walls to transition since it would look weird to suddenly go from hedge maze to hallway.

Not necessarily, they could bust a Krampus and do the transition from snow to hotel.

Replace Saw for Childs Play and The Conjuring with Insidious and we'll be good.  ;)

Personally curious, how in the hell would they do that?

Off topic but how would you guys think a Phantasm maze or a Re-animator maze would flesh out?

You would have the Hedge Maze out in front and you go through the Hedge Maze with maybe some Scare Actors scare in the Hedge Maze. You walk inside the entrance out of the Hedge Maze into the Maze. And the inside could be the Hotel or a Black Hallway to transition into the Hotel. Which could work but the only thing that worries me is if the Hedge Maze is made out of Shrubby Wallpaper.

Murdy will throw us off believing we'll get Insidious one more time, I'm sure of it... but I have a feeling he'll pull a fast one and bring The Conjuring

Seems like a missed opportunity to leave out Insidious but I guess it would make sense to use The Conjuring.

Insidious has been done too much at HHN. I loved the two mazes, and I love the series a lot more than I love The Conjuring. However if they brought it back again and used material from all the movies it would feel super repetitive, and there might not be enough material from chapter 4 alone.

John has a lot to work off of with The Conjuring. 2 Conjuring movies and 2 Annabelle movies, plus it would be brand new to the event

Insidious has only been at the event two times for Hollywood, and both were in odd years (2013 and 2015).

Considering how TWD has been at the park for much longer, I would contest that it'd be probable that we'd see them bring Insidious back mainly in the partnership between Jason Blum and John Murdy throughout the past few years.

I'd love to see The Conjuring, but I think it won't be this year that we get the IP just yet..

Depands really. If they ever make a 3rd one if it had enough content for a Maze it could work (along with 1 and 2). The problem is that because the Scares are Children 70% of the time along with Bagul. Murdy has said he hasn't done one because of the fact the Scares are mostly Children and the ones that aren't, aren't enough content for a Maze.

That makes sense. They can try and get creative like they did with Halloween 2 but I guess those Pumpkin heads were more so a reference toward the cover/Halloween 3.

This is pure speculation, but I feel like this will be another year where Murdy may hold off on the Conjuring. If it was going to happen soon, it would've been last year when the sequel came out. Now that ship has sailed and I think he'll want to wait until the third one comes out. Besides, there will be too many opportunities to cram into six slots to allow it to happen. Besides Conjuring, we're looking at AHS, Hellraiser, Stranger Things, Alien, Resident Evil, The Mummy, Chucky, Saw, Trick 'r Treat, It, (Maaaaybe) The Shining, and maybe even the Exorcist again.

Although I wouldn't be ecstatic to see a repeat, and Murdy understands that I and several other fans feel the same way, but the Exorcist was super popular last year and I feel like there's more that Murdy could've done with it. Maybe he'll want to bring it back one more year since that was his dream property and make it more on scale with what Orlando did. If he did this, at least it wouldn't be a copy + paste repeat like AVP was (Man that pissed me off in 2015. Our precious sound stage was wasted on a repeat). I really wouldn't want this to happen, but it may sound very tempting to say "screw the fans" and do it one more time for the reasons I just mentioned.

I seriously doubt we're getting the Shining. We all know how Mr. King is with his rights on that. If we are getting that, then I guess I'll be a monkey's uncle.

I have to hand it to Murdy for thinking outside the box on Halloween. That was a pretty cool ending.

As far as I know, The Shining (film) is not under the King estate. I'm pretty sure Murdy pulled the deal with WB, not through King (if it's coming).
