I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure Murdy confirmed awhile back via Twitter response to a fan that we're still getting 7 mazes this year.

Keep in mind.. Murdy does not have final say when it comes to the event. Trust me, I have heard "we can never decrease the house count" from the A&D team for Orlando multiple times... and guess what? In 2012, we ended up only having 7 houses instead of 8.

Which highly amuses me about this year's event having 9 houses because.... um... well... the park is rapidly being destroyed & rebuilt, which means past locations being removed. (Nazerman's alone is too small, 2012 saw Jaws Queue & SS44 removed). They've added the 2nd Shrek theater as a location this year. Rumor is, "Not Earthquake" will close after HHN, which means another location gone. Soundstages are not always available. 2-parks is a nightmare. So i'll be curious to see how they handle 9 houses after this year.... because what their event needed was more shows, not more houses. (/end rant on touchy Orlando subject lol)

Yes, Murdy did say 7 & they wouldn't be decreased, but he is not the god of all things HHN Hollywood, nor does he have final say. We just have to hope for the best. Murdy has also said this year that there would NOT be a maze in the CSI SS either, but things can change. So we'll see. (especially since I want a Krampus house dammit! lol)

Freak said:
What baffles me is how they're apparently wanting to cut the seventh maze to fund a show. That makes zero sense because isn't the whole point of a show to increase capacity!? Why not have both!?

The event WILL be popular. Therefore you gotta meet the demand, not decrease it. Im just baffled how they refuse to resolve the capacity issue.

I think they willingly don't want to increase capacity because it is all a greedy ploy to oversell overpriced FoL passes. It also looks like they want to bluff how popular they are by saying, "hheeeyyy look we're sold out every night!" Well, HHN is popular so maximize your profit by increasing capacity. When you increase capacity, people are happier as the lines will be more reasonable. When people are happier, they'll spend more.

Could you imagine if USH closed all of their shows to save on costs and just had the rides open because "that's all people care about"? People would all be overwhelming the lines and people would be upset. Why can't they figure out the same for Horror Nights?

We need a new creative director. Someone who is willing to get properties PEOPLE ACTUALLY WANT. I mean, what the crap Murdy!? Assuming this supposed leak is true, you could've gone after Hellraiser or Trick r Treat..or freakin' AHS. You know how many fans are BEGGING for those to come? AHS EASILY has enough material for a mega maze. You respond with, "gonna wait for another movie". Yet you choose a forgotten Seth Rogan comedy everyone has little to do with horror. I sense a double standard for the sake of meeting James Franco and Jonah Hill. Also, why not have a good mix of desired properties and solid original content like Orlando does? Is that so hard to do!? Does EVERYTHING have to have big celebrities slapped on there!? We need new blood. We need someone who will think outside the box and not just want to hang around celebs for a stupid excuse for creative mediocrity.

Also, let's boot out Kurtzual while we're at it. Sick of him canceling stuff for the sake of bowing to an overly sensitive bunch of crybabies.

That's enough for my mega rant. Its just such a shame to see a once fierce event watered down to such creative and repetitive mediocrity. Do something NEW. Take RISKS. Get us at the juggular! Don't pay attention to the whiny panzies that hate fun. Just BE HORROR NIGHTS.

With that said, I'm seriously considering flying to Florida. At least the line-up over there looks pretty descent.

Well said! I've been making points like this since 2013. It's all become a corporate money grab.

Murdy debunked that lineup that was 'supposedly said.' If anything, besides TWD and Insidious; I think we have to wait till the entire lineup for the event gets announced.

I just booked for October 16th in Orlando too. Not turning my back on Hollywood, but definitely looking forward to a breath of fresh horror nights air.

They should of held off TWD for a year as the trailer of Season Six promises more walkers than Season V and IV combined..

They can still use stuff from Season 6 this year haha... Universal gets access to material for the upcoming season when it comes to an event like this. Its the same as using upcoming movies that won't be out before HHN begins, like last year with Dracula Untold which didn't come out until the 4th weekend of the event. And rather than holding off, I'd much rather see TWD never return.

On a completely different note, someone asked Murdy about "This is the End" on twitter.

and this response made me facepalm & backs up what Freak was saying about Murdy needing to be replaced.

^this is a complete BS answer. Orlando did it in 2002 & it was done well. It was an "original" concept based on JP that worked great.

Is it wrong that I really hope Orlando DOESN'T get Crimson Peak too?

I have a feeling that IF Orlando was going to get it, they would've posted a teaser as well... and I have yet to see one. So yay!

Atleast its to even the odds.. And it makes sense. If you would have the choice of FVJ or Del Toro, I would go work with Del Toro.

wow.. how did I actually forget about FvJ already!?.... eeek..

How about we trade Orlando "TWD" (they could totally use 2 houses devoted to TWD :P ) for "Freddy vs Jason" and.... "This is the End" for "Scream"? And then add 2 more mazes- "Krampus" and "Classic Monsters".... so 8 mazes... that's totally feasible right?  sigh

I forgot something..It seems we might be dealing with a case of two again. Just not on Vampires this year and more in the Supernatural which i'm sure people are fine with that.

Yep. However, it is not as bad as Orlando's event in 2013 where pretty much EVERY house featured zombies in some capacity <_<   Along with everything in the streets being TWD... ugh.. awfulness (with a mix of awesomeness haha)

It will be interesting to see which "haunted house" based maze will be better/scarier. People say that "Insidious" was amazing the last time, including people who have still never seen the movie(s). So I'm curious to see the house this year (since video from the previous house doesn't do it justice).

Among that abysmal line-up, Crimson Peak is the only one I'm sincerely looking forward to.

After JW's success, I don't think Universal will say yes to one. It's no longer a B-movie/horror franchise like it was seen in 2002. Now it's, I dare to say, slightly geared towards families. I know it sounds stupid but business is stupid, so they probably wouldn't want to tamper with how the brand is seen.

Sucks because it would've been an awesome maze.
