What are these new B&M restraints like? Someone mentioned 'rubber vest', does this mean it is similar to the ones on Manta?

As for as Dr Doom is concerned, technically the ride is a space shot not a drop tower ... it is a fun little ride, but I agree ... it is not something you really go wow over and not something you really want to wait for. Would be awesome if they could combine spaceshot with droptower, you get shot up and then you remain at the top for a second or two and then you drop, not sure if that could work though. You know what would be awesome if it could be engineered, a face down drop where you first stand up and then your entire body hangs horizontal. So basically you'd have to be enclosed in a cage like structure ...

So, how certain is this Avengers ride and what type of ride are we talking about it?

Or How about getting shot up Face Down and reaching mid point, getting shot up face up, then reach a stopping point. While face up, drop while rotating? lol

If Universal announces plans for MSHI tomorrow, that would be the knockout punch after the last two days...

I would think, if they announced anything, it would be Volcano Bay.

With that being said, today's announcement was more due to Nintendo than Universal

I know this is the MSHI thread but this photo appears to be an inverted coaster train, which gets me thinking, might we be eventually getting new trains for Dragon Challenge? Maybe even new new paint scheme and fiberglasss shells to represent better represent the coasters new Potter them.

Those trains require a wider track I think...which Dragons doesn't have.

I'm all for Doom leaving. I can get the exact same ride at the Amusement Park 15 minutes away and at least there I can choose if I want to be shot up or dropped as each tower is different. I was even incredibly let down by Doom's Que for how highly I read it talked up for years. That ride for is now a Single Rider only type ride. I won't waist time waiting for it anymore.

If Doom does go for an Avengers ride I would love to see the shot tower replaced by another Tower type ride though. I think it could be a perfect opportunity for Universal to try a Tower of Terror type Ride System. There is enough space to build a decent "dark ride" where for the climax your ride vehicle enters a elevator shaft like TOT. They could have screens in the shafts to keep the story going until the "drop". They could realisticaly even give multiple drops like TOT. Build 3 shafts to keep capacity up. The entire que for the ride could be themed to Avenger Tower. I'd imagine the story being we are touring Avenger Tower and getting a sneak peak at Stark Industry tech when all hell breaks loose.

The rest of the Island can be rethemed with buildings most associated with the MCU although I can't put my finger on what buildings could fill out the whole island. Maybe even a "Stark Expo" type layover could work.

Those B&M vest restraints are a mixed product IMO. I experienced them on GateKeeper and Wild Eagle in 2013 and they provide more arm movement than the horse collar restraints but for some reason, and I don't know if it was just me, the vests rubbed up on my collar bones while on the brake run for both rides. So I'm a bit cautious about those appearing on Hulk and/or DC

I apologize for this question ahead of time because i haven't had time to read all of these forums/comments. But does anybody mind updating me if any of this Marvel Expansion news is true? Kong is confirmed, Nintendo is confirmed but is there any truth that we are indeed getting an Avengers themed ride or anything else for that matter? Sorry again for the super behind in this forum question lol

I can only confirm that hulk is getting a major infrastructure rebuild. Beyond that, I know nothing about the other rumors. I will let the others respond.

Oh ok. Thanks Teebin! So does that mean a new theme for the Hulk? I was holding out for that Iron Man coaster in Toon Lagoon theater. But that is one of those rumors you hear and think " That will probably never happen".

My first reply is all that I know and I know it for certain. I know nothing else beyond that.

I think all restraints have issues for different body sizes. I've personally had no issues on these, but do on others when I have not enough room for my legs

You make a good point. What's uncomfortable for one isn't necessarily uncomfortable for other sized people. Though I guess there's a few coasters where the restraints are universally disliked.

I had the same problem on X Flight and Banshee. Banshee was awful for me. I was so excited to ride it, but halfway through the ride I couldn't wait to get off. So much pain. These restraints suck for us taller people. I wish they'd just build coaster cars without the rubber harness. All you really need is a good lap restraint anyway.

Yeah Banshee with just a lap bar? No thank you.

Biggest problem I have with the regular B&M collars is how they push my shoulders too much, makes it hard to put my arms up in the air. The headbanging I usually don't have too much trouble of.
Those new restraints do seem better though as they are similar to the one's on Manta which I find quite comfortable except that sometimes they push into my legs a tad too much.
The Falcon's Fury restraints are good, as are the Cheetah Hunt one.

Marvel is getting an entire refresh. Hulk sounds like it's staying the Hulk, but will receive significant upgrades. A new ride (most likely Avengers themed) will be added to the land, either replacing Doom or the Toon Lagoon theater

So....contract revised to allow MCU usage at Universal, in exchange for Disney being able to promote Marvel Studios films in park (but no meet and greets or attractions).

Are we all hearing something similar?

I think that's probably a good line of thinking. Yes.

I wonder if after Spider-Man is folded into the MCU that they'll do a major overhaul to the ride to fall in line with the movies.

TOT deserves first place for the theme, but for me, Falcon's Fury produces a much bigger rush. Doom is fun, but nothing special.

I actually found Falcon's Fury rather tame, but I could see that I might be unique in that regard.

JungleSkip said:
IF all the speculation about Doom/F4/X-Men being dropped is true, I'd imagine all those M&G characters will be discontinued and replaced by Iron Man, Thor, Widow, Hawkeye, Loki, etc.

Could you imagine if they somehow managed to build a realistic/solid looking Hulk M&G? That thing would be super popular

It really doesn't seem like that much of a leap from the Transformers characters to be able to do a Hulk.

ThatFloridaDude said:
I agree. That alone makes doom the better drop tower for me. TOT doesn't quite do it in the same fashion. it lacks thrill.

Adrenaline thrills are very easy to pull off, the psychological thrill of the Tower of Terror is much more impressive.

JungleSkip said:
I'll be honest, I dunno how you can have an Iron Man-centered ride and not have a KUKA ride vehicle, personally

That makes a lot of sense, I can easily see a storyline of being recruited into SHIELD as an Avengers support team equipped with very basic Iron Man armor. Maybe design in some interactivity where you blast some bad guys.
