I actually think the model does a really crappy job of selling the land. The new concept art I've seen does it a lot better

I strongly agree. Frankly, the model doesn't look very exciting or enticing. It has a real lack of imagination. And for those who hate the warehouse design of Transformers, the army camp is a few notches beneath that.

Does anyone has an answer to my "Second path to Africa?" question?

what an original story.

I'd be surprised if there was only one entrance/exit.

Really? Sooooo, "Let's kick the humans out, so we can bring the humans in"? I'm having trouble with that math, and I'm hoping the reasoning behind it is not "bring the GOOD humans in", because we all know there is not sucha thing.

If it was asking if there is one, then the answer is yes. Its right past the military camp and leads under the parade bridge to Africa, going right bye a building that houses some restrooms. You can see it from the Africa side right now, just past the Festival of the Lion King theater.

Thanks, yeah I've seen that bridge. I like that idea, it makes sense.

I thought the first concept art for Avatar Land was decent. I recognized the movie in it although you could clearly see the Florida palmtrees and scrubs clashing with the dotted "Avatar like" plants.
The second concept art took away a lot of the more striking features.
Now this and I'm sure it will look stunning when you walk there. Disney does rockwork like the best and waterfalls and lots of plant but it doesn't read Pandora. On top of the building I see small arches and they try to have some floating mountains in there but it just doesn't convince. But I miss the flat top trees that stick out over the jungle, I miss the huge tree that was so important in the first movie and the fiberoptic tree is missed dearly.
Even the evil military concreet buildings don't look like anything in the sci-fi movie. And I expected that nature would have taken over.
I hope the devil is in the details and brings it to life. I hope the rides are shockingly wonderful but this lowers expectations even more. If only they did build Beastly Kingdom...

I don't believe they were allowed to build any standard gift and restaurant buildings as there were no navi structures in the movie. It all has to happen within mountains and caves. Were there any navi eating scenes in the movie short of the arrow kill that was prayed over?

spoiler alert...that giant tree was destroyed by the republicans..i mean military contractors. Also if you look behind you there is another really large tree in the park with a bunch of animal faces on it. So you can pretend if you want.

I'm coming around to the model. I think this is an area that will need to be experienced first hand to really "get it". If the trees and pathways are illuminated, then it could look really awesome. The waterfall also looks rather massive, which you miss when you look at the model.

I can see this becoming the new "favorite" night time park. When all is said and done.

ALSO...if you look at the original leaked blueprints...it appears there is a section of the boat ride with a large "root" like shape you go around. My guess is that the Pandora Tree of Life (or whatever its called) will be represented in the boat ride..if anywhere.

The problem with Disney mountain waterfalls is that they will just shut them down if they make a mistake in their splash calc, and never attempt fixing. Hell, sometimes they turn them off completely! EE seriously disappointed me in this.

Or, if the waterfall or fountain is costing too much money to operate.

Guys there is no need for concerns, we all know if anything wrong happens with that waterfall, they will fix it right away. C'mon it's an easy fix.... just put a strobe light in front of it and call it "disco rocks" Tada!!!

Nothing says "fun theme park dining experience" like eating lunch in the military-themed mess hall. (The base is called Hell's Gate in the movie?) What am I missing here?

I would never bet against the Mouse's publicity powers, but I still think this project has "flop" potential. Let's hope the E-ticket is an E+.

If they pull off the "night time effects" the public will mop it up. People spend hundreds just to see Christmas lights each year.
