If they pull off the "night time effects" the public will mop it up. People spend hundreds just to see Christmas lights each year.

Yeah, but if the land is *most(ly)* impressive at night, that's problem -- either it's bad design, bad concept, or bad planning. If the design requires darkness for the effects to work, then simulate darkness (i.e. Pirates, Knockturn, etc.).

Not to mention, most guests (those of the "I'm just here with family on vacation" variety) won't know that they need to see it at night.

But, yeah, a lot of tourists and locals like seasonal Christmas lights. That's true.

Nothing says "fun theme park dining experience" like eating lunch in the military-themed mess hall. (The base is called Hell's Gate in the movie?) What am I missing here?

What was I thinking. :bonk: People will love eating alien dog burgers and ribs, flying-serpent soup etc.

The problem with the "marketing and hype" so far is that it's trying to sell us more on the day and not really showcasing the night.

The night is going to be the selling point for everyone. Use it more.

I'm assuming tomorrow we're going to hear a lot about DAK nighttime activities in general

That's a pretty ugly model, why didn't they just take away some trees for D23 and then put them back for production? You can barely see the roadway or anything for that matter. I don't think there is anyway for Disney to show us what it's gonna be like until it's made. Models don't do it justice, concept art doesn't do it justice, pretty much nothing does it justice besides the real thing lol. Well we are getting more info tomorrow so I'll reserve all my judgement until then

I'm sure it will be listed as Number 1 on the "top insider Disney tips info-mericial" that they play on repeat in every hotel room in the resort.

Is it Stacey now? There have been so many of these infomercial talents over the years. They are always extremely obnoxious. I usually have to put the channel on mute.

My point was..."everyone" will know this "insider secret". Expect the Animal Kingdom to be packed at night, if they pull this off.

I think most of you guys are being negative. I feel like this place is going to look beautiful, during the day and at night.

So do I think it will look great! We were making fun of the apparently vague and ambiguous model. It appeared in photos as relatively small, to which we are unaccustomed. Personally, I think it did a disservice to the project.

Here's a look at the model as it changes from day to night:

Did I miss something? It doesn't seem to be glowing much at all

Part of the problem is it's the pathways that glow... the trees in the model obstruct that from being seen. This model is a very poor representation of the product.

Also, in case anyone was doubting the boat ride was still on, here's a picture from the expo yesterday:

The ACE story they're pushing here has a big T23D vibe going on with it

It's also very similar to Star Tours (and the logo looks like the ISTC logo at Mission: Space).

But it has to be explained somehow, and tbh, the ACE crap opens up a lot of merchandising opportunities and in the D23 promo video for the land, they mentioned "Specialty foods". They're using the Potter formula pretty much exact.

I'm not too surprised about it, both T2 and pandora were made by James Cameron lol

I'm not surprised either. I still see more Star Tour in this than anything, but maybe that's because I rarely see T2 and go on Star Tours much more frequently.
