Just feel like it takes away from the story, which is what Disney prides themselves comes first when designing their attractions.

Like Star Tours. The ride vehicle makes sense. Tower of Terror. The ride vehicle makes sense. The ride vehicle is one of the main parts of the story.

When I think of a next gen simulator based on Avatar, the first thing that comes to mind are the choppers. They could hold a decent amount of passengers and it would fit with the story. A bunch of suspended benches does not...

If I had to guess, I'd say the "benches" will be carried by the dragons around Pandora, since only one person can ride them

Well the cancelling of the Media event and now this aren't really playing into Avatar's favor...and i've been someone who has supported and said this is something that will happen all along.

Disney will not close their most highly rated show (sad as that is) for any longer than it has to. It's very possible the plans to move it to Africa have been delayed, thus delaying the closure.

It's moving, Avatar is happening.
