America is the poster child for "deadly greed".

Just ask Flint, MI.

You can also ask China and nearly every other country. Big strong government does that.
Anyways, I feel like Avatar was huge just because of the visuals. The next films need to have a great plot for them to be as successful as the first.

Avatar is bad. It's really, really, really boring. Almost BvS levels of boring.

Whoa whoa whoa...

Hey now...while Bats v Supes wasn't great, it's far better than Avatar.
At least I actually LIKE the characters in BvS and know their names! Lol

BvS might be worse than Avatar. While Avatar was boring at least it was a competently put together film

Just to add my two cents.

My only really appreciation for the movie was the tech, vehicles, and aircraft created by Cameron.

He puts so much time into these areas and they came out awesome. Too bad they all got their ass kicked by over sized pigeons haha

I can't wait to finally see the other side of that show building. That rock work looks really impressive.

The other side of the building is pretty neat - well the guest facing side. The side that faces the park perimeter is somehow more barren than Everest.

When I last saw it the steel was in place for the massive vine work which all by itself was very impressive looking architecturally.

I don't really understand this argument. The story is a classic man vs wild fable. To say it didn't have a good plot, is basically also saying that a number of other classic stories do not have a good plot. It's formulaic, but it's not in any means "bad".

it didn't have an "original" plot, this is true, but the world, technology, creatures, language, basically everything else on screen is all very original and created from Cameron himself. There are true heroes and villains, and the pacing follows a logical and grand conclusion. there is nothing "wrong" with the storytelling. It's just not mind bending sci-fi, but to be honest most of the films that a lot of people lap up these days (comic book moves, cough, cough) follow the same type of genre story formula. I mean how many super hero origin stories are EXACTLY the same? A lot of them.

And to respond to snarky comment #2 .....yes 3D TVs did not take off the way that the electronic companies hoped, but there is still a market, and the impact on theaters is still very, very, present. Last I checked the majority of blockbusters and animated moives are still released in 3D on a weekly basis.

any other haters want to umm...hate?

3-D, like color, or sound, can be used creatively or as a gimmick. The movie "Hugo" is breathtaking in 3-D. "avatar" is the same.

I'm not really defending 3D though. I rarely see a movie in 3D in the theaters. Mainly because the majority of 3D films are after conversions. Avatar was shot with 3D in mind, and it shows. I don't own a 3D TV either.

My point still stands though, to say that Avatar had "no cultural impact" , is simply not true.

Random thought I had the other day.

Between the 'human base' cafeteria which I'm sure will have some props and interactive stuff from the movies, matched with the coming Star Wars lands.

Its fascinating how much of a military presence is now going to be felt within a Disney theme park.....

Hmmmm interesting view. Just as the 90s Disney attractions felt more like corporations, now and in 1955 the parks are built around themes modern to the times.

Well hopefully this ride will be able to deliver everything the movie has to offer and Disney Does not try to dumb it down in order to stay in budget like there were going to do to the poor boy potter if he had came to WDW instead of universal

Have there been any issues hit hard yet on this project with the structure of the floating islands?

From an engineering standpoint the design is very bold if you looked closely at the primary structural beams. Definitely not off the shelf I beams haha

I cant imagine there hasn't been a few fairly significant issues.

The level of progress is quite pathetic..

Supposedly, they're way way way over budget. So that part doesn't appear to be a problem (except for the accountants and other projects disappearing to pay for the over budget.Someone has to pay for it):)

As Sean said before there's nothing too bold or crazy about the mountains. Only hard thing is finding the right locations to put them.
