One of the most interesting things I read comparing Disney to Universal for staff was about the parking. If you work at Magic Kingdom, you park at Disney Springs and driving was ridiculous recently during construction so everything took longer than normal. You then need to wait on a bus to take you to the park and you're not paid any extra for it, some times arriving well more than an hour before you start. After a long day you return to your car an hour after your shift has finished and you car has been lying in the sun all day, making it a sauna.

Universal, you're a 5min walk to the park and you're parked in a multi story car park.

If you work at MK, you by no means park at Disney Springs. There's a HUGE parking lot behind Fantasyland for castmembers and a 2 minute bus ride in to get to the tunnels.

Looking at it on a map, I've realised my mistake. I thought Disney University was the Disney Casting building opposite Disney Springs.

Searching Google there, I've stumbled upon something else I can't seem to get an answer to.

What's the current situation with parking at Disney Springs? Is it free completely or similar to how it was before for the first 2 hours?

Disney Springs guest parking is free - always has been. Out in California it is something like only 2 hours free though.

Personal bias must be in play as I and other informed people have been saying for awhile that Pandora will not be your Daddy's Fantasyland Expansion. From the two innovative rides (Soarin 20.0) (more relaxed Shanghai Pirates) and the overall scale of the environment, I expect it to be the crown jewel of Orlando for some time to come...(at least until we see what Uni can do with Nintendo or Disnwy with SWL)

Yeah, I drove all the way back there in 2004. It is a mini industrial park city. Had to stop and wait for the choochoo to cross on its way to bed and saw the mega monorail maintenance building. I had to drop someone off by one of the university buildings... or that is what I recall it being. It was the first shoulder shaking I received going back there and realizing there is a whole lot of ugly and practical behind the purdy fantasy.

I go through there about once a week on my way home. Take a left onto Reams Road and I live about 15 mins down the street.

Most cast members do this, but the the on site lots fill up all the time and certain lower level cast members are required to park at Disney Springs. It used to be Epcot. I don't know why they changed it.

On second thought, I may be thinking of studios.

The premium spots are not where Cast Members were parking, it is where the AAA Diamond parking was. I have been to the parks several times in the last couple weeks and CM parking signs where up in front areas.

Also, guests never parked in these spots unless they had AAA and that benefit went away last year for those guests.

Ah Reams Rd, I recently found that on google maps, was looking where the road past space mountain led to as I could see it from my room at BLT. Noticed it lead to what looked like a residential area (Reams Rd) and wondered if the public could drive down there, I think yours and Teebin's post answered my question. Will have to have a ride down there for a nosy next trip.

The night we were able to ride a float for Mardi Gras this year, we had a couple of people that work for UNI on the float with us, plus our leader was from Entertainment. We talked a bit while waiting around. I work for a very large company that is more frugal than the large company I worked for before we 'merged' with said very large company so I asked if a lot had changed since Comcast took over...I was a little surprised to hear that everyone felt they were being treated even better now....I think it was those little important things like appreciation meals/reckignitions that (from what I was told) Comcast seems to have stepped up a notch since taking over.

That's always good to hear. Not many big corporations understand that a happy employee makes for a better product.

There is a CM lot next to Buena Vista Palace, opposite the old DS Bus Stops. The CMs fly around the corner without looking there at the end of the night.
