IOA has literally seen 2 (3 technically counting Hogwarts Express) total additions since the park opened: High in the Sky Trolley, Forbidden Journey and aforementioned Hogwarts Express. Kong of course will come on line this year.

But the park is just lacking overall. I hardly ever find a reason to go there as a local whereas I end up at USF very often. Comcast created it's "heavy screen usage" problem by adding a ton of rides like that within the past few years, this isn't something that just happened. IOA needs additions much more than USF needs MORE additions, just non-screen ones (as much as I agree with that sentiment).

That's true, in fact I didn't realize how little expansion IOA has gotten. It could probably use new attractions more. If we're lucky, Nintendo will downplay screen usage to help with USF, while IOA gets other additions.

[Nerd voice] Storm Force Accellatron and The Flying Unicorn were post-opening additions as well. :)

I questioned Storm Force after posting, forgot about TFU. Either way, those are minor attractions.

That is the problem at IOA. Expansion land between lands is virtually nil. Kong has used one and Hogwarts used the other. Remaining would be something really big for Lost Continent or one for Toon Lagoon theater or an entire land for all of toon lagoon. Seuss expansion must be Seuss. That is all she wrote for IOA. JP, Marvel, Potter and Seuss aren't going anywhere.

I will always support replacing a 3-D attraction with a dark ride.

I really hope that SLOP ends up in the Studios and TL at Islands is saved for a much bigger project. We all know that TL as we know it will disappear eventually......it would be nice to get a totally immersive environment with multiple attractions.

I'm in the very low minority that doesn't mind the entrance of USF. It feels exactly like walking into the (perceived) business of a working movie studio. I know the park is moving away from the "studios" theme (or so I think), I still feels like it's a good throw back.

The entrance isn't bad, it is just not going to go well after the park has a bunch of highly themed areas. If they redo the entrance when they remove Shrek I think they will also change the name of the park as Studios will not fit anymore.

I know it's rather abrupt and takes a lot of suspension but I kinda like the "transition" from "production/a studio" to a fully realized land "set." I'd love to see them take that to an extreme but that'd be more akin to movie buffs not people who really wanna get "lost" in a world

Can't agree with you on that. The branding of that name is too valuable to change it. It's what Universal is about, the movies. And it still fits due to the NYC, Hollywood, SF & London facades, plus numerous sound stages that get used for HHN etc.

You may be right. I guess for me things are becoming more "lands" with HP and Simpsons right now. Eventually we will have Nintendo and whatever else they decide to do. To me SF is a land, NY is a land. right now it still looks like a studio in parts, but slowly they are changing that and at some point if they continue to me it no longer looks like a working studio. But that is just me and as I stated, I could be wrong and they won't change it. Things change names all the time, I don't think that will harm it too much. Not like people don't still pack themselves into Disney Springs just because it is no longer called Downtown Disney.

I think you change names when what you have isn't working to it's max. Thus Downtown Disney becomes Disney Springs and DHS will become something else. But Universal Studios is on the rise. You don't need to fix what isn't broken.

True. I guess it is just my OCD self that says the name won't match what the park really is in 10 years. lol

I feel that only happened to have brand recognition in a country that only really knows of their studio company.

That's the key word , "brand recognition". And that's why I doubt they'll change the name.

Even though IOA is by far the best looking of the two Orlando parks, all of the overseas ventures are Studio's type of look alike parks (even though they combine attractions from both IOA & Studios). Once again, the Universal Studios brand is paramount (little play on words).

USF will not be changing names anytime in the foreseeable future.
