I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, but Legendary & WB are being sued by someone who had been working on Kong: Skull Island since 1992. Guy had meetings with Legendary and WB separately to develop a prequel that would later tie into a more Kong adventures. Legendary passed. WB signed on to do a television pilot. Months later Legendary announced the film. Then moved Kong out of Uni, over to WB, and WB cancelled it's contract with the writer. Legendary Pictures, instead of denying the claims, issued a "no comment" to the media.

Good thing Uni passed on that film.

I expect some deal will quietly be worked out, either involving the gentleman in question receiving some financial reimbursement or perhaps acknowledgement somewhere in the film's credits.

This kind of stuff is not all that uncommon, really. Harlan Ellison, for example, took action against James Cameron and the production company behind THE TERMINATOR because Cameron was... well, let's say influenced by an episode of THE OUTER LIMITS that Ellison contributed to. As such, Ellison now receives a credit on the home video versions of the movie.

In any case, I'd wager any controversy surrounding the new Kong film will be fairly contained, and have little impact on the film itself, much less the ride, which is only tangentially connected.

Other things contested in such manners: The Matrix, Finding Nemo, and Harry Potter to name a few. Usually a small independent author who sends a book to someone and uses that as a claim for infringement.

I don't think it will impact the ride at all. Just thought it was an interesting tidbit.

This does indeed happen all the time. The difference here is that Legendary convinced WB to cancel one project and get on board with them and move it out of Universal. Not a good look on them.

Not the case here. There are detailed dates of meetings a good 6 months before Skull Island was announced. And he had a contract with WB for a Skull Island TV show. And permission from the estate of Merian Cooper to develop. He's got a case and will get pretty much what he's asking for ($3.5 million).

Totally agree. I think there's a lot of strange behind-the-scenes stuff going on between Legendary, Universal, and WB. Legendary's moves to (and between) those studios have struck me as incredibly odd over the last couple of years, and the Kong project is just one element of that.

Going back to the 3D overload issue...

They could offer 2D glasses. They do exist where both lenses filter for either the Left or Right image, not both, thus the person wearing them would only see a 2D image and not both L and R which is what creates the 3D illusion. This would be an easy solution and not expensive. Glasses would still be needed, but your eyes wouldn't need to focus to merge the two images into one 3D image.

If it's off the shelf tech being used on these rides, is this something that could be bought outside the park?

They already offer them. Just ask a TM for the 3D rides. They are blue instead of black.

I never knew that! Why aren't there signs or literature promoting this? Did anyone else know this?

What about the Dolby 3D that many attractions use now? That's a completely different tech.

That is one of the most exciting things I've seen about this ride. Talk about atmosphere.

I don't know, could be they only exist for Real3D, since I think they are meant for people who enjoy 3D movies but have a family member who can't handle them.

Is Dolby 3D used much outside rides like Spiderman?

Nope. Just touched it up so you could see the fog better.

Cooool. Now that you mention it, I did see tiny sprinkler head thingies in the bushes. And this path used to have water fog come in on the Camp Jurassic side to create atmosphere. They turned it off for the path when they started construction.
