Parks don't are about timelines. FJ is all over the place trying to fit as many movies as possible and sometimes makes no sense. Star Tours is the same way and I don't think they will change it. They will add the other movies in and get more variations.

I know we've had this discussion before how if you overthink most theme park rides, they are all stupid and make no sense.

I think that's pretty pessimistic outlook, why shouldn't we strive and want the best from the entertainment we like? What's important that the internal logic of the attraction should work and not be violated.

Yes, but there seems to be very selective reasoning from fans on what works and what doesn't work when certain rides are deconstructed. But ultimately, suspension of disbelief is required at the door for pretty much every single theme park attraction in existence.

I check my suspension of belief at the turnstiles, but can't seem to shake the fact that Star Tours makes no sense in it's current incarnation to include anything from the new trilogy. I still like the ride, but it's something that I think about afterwards, especially knowing that the official opening crawl for the ride, as i've said, states that it takes place between episodes 3 and 4 as "Episode III.V"

Of course i'm sure so few people higher up care or know anything about the Star Tours backstory or even the time period it's supposed to be set in. So when marketing come in and says "we'll pay you x amount of money to put this into your ride", they just say yes and move on. Of course, if we're going to add willy nilly, to these rides, i'd like a Kylo Ren scene for the part where Vader appears at the beginning.

I honestly think that you're just going to have to ignore canon when it comes to theme park rides. When exactly is Transformers supposed to take place during the movies? And how come Harry, Ron, and Hermione appear calmly during the Hogwarts Express when they're supposed to be fugitives on the run in Gringotts?

Potter is completely different than Star Wars AT THE MOMENT. Right now, Potter has fleshed out lands whereas Star Wars only has a singular ride, which has a very specific backstory.

I mentioned earlier that I expect that backstory to change one SWL opens... it simply will have to.

Don't know where to put this, but this seems right.

I've seen a few ads now advertising Star War Awakens at Hollywood Studios. I think this is Disney's way of making a seasonal event into the parks new temporary identity.

Yes there is a facebook thing going around about if you like Star Wars then you will love DHS. Kind of tying the two together. Which I think is a little strange at this point.

Strange? Disney is just trying to gain the attention of the mass amount of people that are Star Wars crazy at the moment. The ad does make it looks way cooler than it actually is though.

Yeah, they're making it seem as if there is more than just, essentially, a glorified museum with a M&G; which may upset the uninformed.

Sean brought this up and I do wonder, will this ad campaign to tie SW to a weak offering at DHS backfire as a "boy who cried wolf" thing when the actual Star Wars land opens?

Doubt it. I'm sure marketing for that beast will be crazy where even the most basic simpleton will comprehend it's a land/rides.

The ad that plays before Ep. IX will explain it all.

"Pilot the Millinium Falcon! Battle the First Order! Blue Milk at the Cantina! Only at Walt Disney World and Disneyland!"

Yeah. They'll have to put out some footage of the actual area to reassure people some though.

You can't tell people DHS is the best place ever right now for Star Wars and then they go and it's a sh*thole. That will lead to distrust.

They will need to make sure people know SWL is the real deal.

It's still many moons away from land completion. It will do great, no doubt, when it opens. But right now Star Wars is probably at the peak (until they open the new lands) of it's popularity and discussion, largely due to the long timeline since the first three movies were released. I would expect things to slow down a little from this peak over the next couple of years. Interest will be significant of course, but not quite this lofty.

as long as the other directors can build upon the hype that Disney and JJ have created, I don't see things slowing down all that much. Which Harry Potter film had the largest box office....?
