as long as the other directors can build upon the hype that Disney and JJ have created, I don't see things slowing down all that much. Which Harry Potter film had the largest box office....?

Deathly Hallows Pt. 2

I sincerly doubt any of the other movies in the current trilogy will beat what TFA has done though. That was 30+ years of pent up demand all bursting out at the same time. Now that people have seen it and have opinions on it, some may not go back for Episode 8 in theaters (depending on how they felt about the movie).

I believe the side films (Rogue One, and unnamed Han Solo Backstory) will over saturate the market resulting in lower bank for the 2 film remaining in the new trilogy.

Yeah. I feel like they should have held off the Anthology films until after the main trilogy was finished.
It would've given people a trilogy of Star Wars films exploring other parts of the world (Rogue One, Han Solo, Boba Fett) to give time off from the Skywalker Saga.

If/when Disney dives back in for Episodes 10-12, I fear that they will do it way too soon. Like I said, the reason TFA made so much money was 30+ years of build up and clever marketing. I can guarantee you Disney won't even wait 10 years to dive into another trilogy.

I would agree with this, IF Disney/Marvel hadn't already proved that it's possible to keep these franchises going with tons of side movies. At this point "Avengers" is the big franchise, and Iron Man/Captain American/GotG/AntMan/etc are the side stories that feed into it. The fact that Marvel hasn't become oversaturated with the insane amount of super hero movies, is reason enough to believe that Star Wars will fare a similar fate.

I also think that TFA left much of the public wanting more...not less.

I guess only time will tell.

I thought about that, but the main difference is Marvel movies like Ant-Man, GotG, Iron Man, Cap, Thor, etc all differentiate from each other so greatly.

Star Wars Episodic movies are generally fairly similar and I guess we will see how different Rogue One makes us feel. I just don't think the Universes we will be put in for the Star Wars movies are as different as the Marvel movies and it may backfire.

I do agree though, that the episodic movies will continue to do very well. People left that movie with so many questions that they are desperate to see answered.

Rogue One will be a big hit and maybe the #1 grosser this year. That Han Solo movie is a disaster waiting to happen after seeing the shortlist.

I don't get this. The last movie was released in 2005, so wasn't it just 10 years? I mean I know many don't like 1 thru 3, but it isn't like there was nothing for 30 years.

I think because the hard core fans wrote off the last three. In their eyes, and mine too, only the first three really matter.

I say 30 years because this was the long awaited sequel. No matter what you feel about the prequels, they are just that - prequels.

This was the first movie to be based AFTER the events of Revenge of the Jedi, which is what fans have really been waiting for for a long time. Just seeing Harrison Ford back up there being Han Solo again, seeing the Millennium Falcon, seeing Luke at the end. You could feel the excitement in the theater.

It may be brief, but I believe he will have to be in it - hopefully with James Earl Jones voicing him again. Darth Vader played a big role in building the death star. I'd expect the Emperor to show up as well.

Pretty sure they got that confused with the Avatar boat ride. The only thing Star Wars related that would fit a boat ride is Dagobah.

ILM worked on Avatar so it makes sense that there was a mix-up.

The way that article is written, ILM could be working on a Star Wars boat ride, more likely Avatar, or even to help with the effects of the Frozen boat ride.

So apparently the Instant-Bread from TFA wasn't CGI and they actually worked on it to get the effect to really work. Apparently it tastes terrible, but if they can get it tasting right, this could be a big F&B option for SWL.

I'd rather eat regular bread than powdered toast.
