On the Hollywood side there's talk of it not being a good year because of...well, current events. Should we keep our expectations low as well? I was so excited for the 30th anniversary. :(

Well during economic hardships of the past 30 years, HHN flourished with original storytelling. Maybe drop the licensing of IPs to decrease the cost of the event, cut the number of houses, and bring back Terra Cruentus as the overall theme/concept by using recycled costumes, designs, props, and sets.

Can we bring Bloody Mary back?

I would love to think this crisis brings about changes to our system, but given the way the primaries are going, I'm not hopeful.

Also, boy, what monkey's paw did I stumble on if we end up getting more originals and at most 10 houses?

She can still be used, the person or persons who owned the copyright didn't renew the name, so she could be still lurking around this year I'm sure, possibly in the anniversary scarezone along with the other icons. Honestly this year I've said before, there is a lot of writing on it, between the Terra Queen, Jack The Clown being used as the marketing bait, I mean anything could go down, it could be good or ehh, honestly it's just best to go into this with a clear mind and less expectation because I'm sure people will disappointed in what's to come or what's not, the originals not so much but most notably the IPs as it could be less than a stellar year. Also as much as we would want to see Terra Cruentas they will not drop licensing ips, that is what is drawing people to the event, as much as I want the original storytelling of the past, we can be sure that it will not be the same like it was back then. IP will heavy in the marketing but hopefully the originals will flourish this year. Honestly I think this year could be a decent year, it's an anniversary after all and should be promising but definitely start by going in low at least before the announcements come out.

No. Not for now at least. It’s only March, September 10th is far away.

The parks will be closed for at least another 8 weeks, but I wonder how that effects event planning and construction.

It doesn’t really have to effect much. The construction crews are third-party contractors that can continue working through this closure, and the planning (at this point) is in the hands of a few in-house designers and freelance artists. Any discussion about stuff can occur over phone or email, and the decision-makers don’t exceed 15 people.

I understand people’s concerns, but HHN is six months away still, and there are much bigger hurdles to cross before HHN gets obviously impacted.

Assuming HHN happens (as I still expect) I think people might give this year (even) better reviews than they would've otherwise. As in, just grateful for some ounce of normality in life. Like that Fight Club quote, "Tomorrow will be the most beautiful day of Raymond K Hessel's life; his breakfast will taste better than any meal you and I have ever tasted."

It’s really crazy that we went from which houses are happening to whether HHN is happening or not. It’s kinda sad honestly to think about that, and a bit worrying.

Anyways, only time will tell. IMO it’s very unlikely for HHN to be cancelled since we’re a few months away. But I really hope corona doesn’t get worse overtime.

even if hhn happens, theres still that fear about corona lingering around (ive read that corona could hit harder in this coming winter),
or there could always be the case that hhn opens but it becomes understaffed,
hhn always happens during regular flu season which makes people quit. regular flu is a huge hassle for hhn, imagine corona on top. it would be two flu in october, yikes

One thing's for sure: Casting is going to be delayed. It was set to start in early April, shortly after Mardi Gras ended. Now I highly doubt that that's even a possibility and would lean at it being closer to June for casting.

If HHN doesn't happen this year I'm sure we would have a lot more things to worry about than getting our spooky on

I don't wanna think about a year without HHN. :(
As for the clue...
- "Perry the Platypus, what an unexpected surprise. And by unexpected I mean completely expected!"
- Expect the unexpected is a tag line for Big Brother.
- Big Brother started filming in the UK July 14th 2000.
- The first x-men movie was released on that date.
-New Mutants house.
(I wish.)

Or, still a stretch but.

-Big Brother originated in the Netherlands
-famous Dutch horror movie?
-American Werewolf in Paris

Could it be possible for them to push back the event? I just don’t them canceling it all together unless they’ve exhausted all other options

Honestly I don't know how they'd do that. I mean the Christmas celebrations start what, like a week or two after HHN ends?
