The name is ironically impossible to say with a mouthful of chocolate.

The "Chocolate Emporium" part has a nice ring to it, now. It's the awful "Toothsome" part that keeps screwing it up. Maybe Toothache, or ToothDecay, but using the word "some" really makes it hard to get that whole title out. Besides, no one wants to be reminded of their teeth while eating chocolate. This would be the equivalent of naming your Mexican joint ANAL THUNDER BURRITO CO.

Just a thought, do you think the name change was planned from the beginning? When announced this restaurant received HUGE media coverage because people wrongly assumed it was going to be Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory, had they come out with the new name first do you think it would have received the hype it did initially? I'm not convinced it would have been as big news as it was.

If that is that case it's a pretty clever ploy on Uni's part as they won't have half as many problems from stupid tourists who didn't bother to do a bit of research to check it wasn't Willy Wonka.

That said, I'm still not struck on the name.

Like all long titles, I'd guess the public will shorten it to something more manageable. Probably , "Chocolate Emporium" or "The Emporium" .

Today I learned that "Toothsome" means tasty. Still an awful word to use for a restaurant that is a themed Cheesecake Factory. At least it's unique in its usage, I'll give it that.

No matter what they called it, it will be called "the Chocolate place" by guests. Test Track has been open for 15 years and people still call it "Fast Track".

I don't mind it. It's whimsical and different. Cumbersome, to be sure, but it's fine

Some thoughts on this... These are just my thoughts, not facts.

The name change from "Factory" to "Emporium" musta been because they got a Cease and Decist from some rightsholder related to Willy Wonka. Their 5/5 blog post cites a BS "creative process" reason why they changed the name. If you look at the 3D renderings they posted to the UO blog on 5/5, this place was designed from day one to be a factory - chimneys and gears and pipes and whatnot. There's no way they would suddenly no longer call a factory a factory for simply "creative reasons".

As far as the overall name goes... it's annoying, but I get that they chose a ridiculously long and novel name that you would see on a map and say "What's that? I want to go there".

My friend's husband has already dubbed it "The PMS Palace". The name has stuck for our little group of weirdos. :p

The signature drink should be the "Chocolate Tranquilizer Dart".

I dig the name. Toothsome is the sort of needlessly overwrought word that a steampunk fan would use.

Even knowing what toothsome means, I still think it sounds like something that's bad for your teeth.
