I agree about RFID making the most sense, but I think I see a prox sensor at the bottom of the FJ ride vehicle picture below, possibly an RFID reader since it doesn't quite resemble the standard casing, might be in a high end NEMA enclosure. I also think the 6 data/ground bus plus power bus rail makes total sense, I'm just a bit thrown because what I assume are the 6 black rails appear to be painted which would inhibit or prevent data transfer. I'm referring to the black rails that run parallel to the central power rail in the second picture below.

The black rails you see on the track aren't the bus bars, rather the casing is what you're looking at.

It's more or less for safety. If for some reason somebody is out on the track and it's energized, they can actually brush up against the bus bar and not get shocked. If you look at the track for the load area of Spidey, you will see that some of the casing has been replaced and is now yellow. Same thing for MIB. You kinda have to work you're way into it to get shocked.

Also remember, no data is being transferred through the bus bar. It's only on/off signals. Any data transfer that happens is wireless.

2013/2014 - Transformers: The Ride / Project 609 - Rumor - (7/17/12) With the Tower Crane now on site at the former SS44 site, it got me thinking… because I know I’ve seen Universal use this exact same setup not long ago. Take a look at this satellite image of the Transformer ride building under construction in Hollywood and you’ll notice it has the same style crane setup. While this doesn’t exactly confirm that the attraction is Transformers: The Ride, it does give off good evidence that we are looking at a similar sized building structure and construction style to be used here.*
*** As for me… well, I’m going to weigh in on this one last time and flip-flop back to what my gut was telling me in the first place. This is, indeed, going to be the Orlando home for Transformers: The Ride. This was not a long term plan… this was a very sudden and unexpected decision, but Universal management really wants to strike while Transformers is still hot and between this and the Harry Potter expansion project, will deliver an incredible one-two punch to Disney.* There is still a storm of mis-information blowing every which way, so I’m sure we’ll hear about one or two more possible ideas before Transformers is confirmed at last, but in the end… the Autobots and Decepticons will arrive in Orlando to wage war.
*** I don’t know the timeline for this, but given the start date, I’m guessing that we wont see Transformers open until late 2013, which should see it open just ahead of Disney’s new Seven Dwarves Coaster at the Magic Kingdom.

From our update 2 days ago.

Over the course of a week, a huge crane has been erected on the construction site; the same kind of crane that was used to build the Transformers attraction over in Universal Studios Hollywood. Of course, this doesn’t confirm what attraction is planned for the area, but one thing is for sure; the building will be huge.

but with the crane at hollywood it was INSIDE the building at USF it's on a side street... can't be the same thing they are totally different

Based on the whole post, it sounds like maybe Universal was feeding him some disinformation and he came to realize it was bad intel. (In fairness, he admits he's "flip-flopping"--unlike say, a Jim Hill, who says "oh no, you fanbois totally misunderstood--actually XPass will be the exact opposite of what I wrote last week"). Screamscape's record on Universal has been very solid, going back to scooping the original Potter announcement--it just seems like this year Universal has been spreading false rumors through trusted sources for whatever reason. It wasn't just Lance who got fooled, it was Spirit, Lee, Marni... This ties into your thread on the photography crackdown, but Universal seems intent on clamping down on internet chatter this year.

Yup. But at least with the rumors I kind of understand their gag orders. They don't want the fact that they're building 3 E-tickets to make the rounds and reach the mainstream audience, deterring them from making a trip. But at this point they need to realize the jig is up and at least throw the fanbase a bone and either announce TF or start hinting at it.

Honestly, if Uni thinks that delaying an announcement will make families delay their vacation is asinine...Disney made their announcement for their expansion, and there attendence is still very high so IMHO, if fan sites are talking about it its not a big deal.

IMO, if you are family with plans to go to UOR this summer, you're pretty much locked in at this point.
