I watched the video, and the first thing I thought was, this is exactly like spiderman but with a different movie. Don't get me wrong I think the ride will be fun. I just think i would be more excited to ride something a little different

Sure the ride tech is similar in a lot of ways. But it's the experience that you're forgetting to take into account.

Take River adventure and Dudley... Same concept yes, but completely different experiences.

Same could be said for any two coasters really.

The thing with Universal is that they know how to immerse you. You really get that feeling of being there in that situation more than I've felt anywhere else.

So from our perspective, we know it's a similar ride because we'll be going in with that mind-set. But from a normal tourists point of view, there will be two separate experiences for them.

Either way though, It's something new, right. Doesn't cost you anything extra. We didn't lose anything for it's place. That's perfect.

If anything at least it'll be good to take the wait off of your favorite attraction for a while!

Agreed.

To those arguing that many should just feel ok with it being another Spider-man like ride because the format works as a template for a great film based attraction. But to argue and agree with what others have recently posted.

Why would you want repeated success if we could get something unique? Why not something better? People keep bringing up the Disney Omnimover Comparisons and they are kind of Apples to Oranges because for 1. The only thing really the same about all the Omnimovers is the way the vehicles line up and continously move. Many are differently themed and only a few are the same shape and even fewer the same theme. Their surroundings however and themes are always vastly different. Some include set pieces, some include screens and interactive dimensional blacklit things as a focus, and others are technical screen like applications. And the argument often with Disney is that their methods are successful but stagnet. So no one is doubting a ride using Spidey's concept again would not be popular, but one can argue that it has some redundancy to a variety of experience if the option was there.

Transformers is exactly like Spiderman in both vehicle and the format. Same vehicle shape, tech and from screen to screen with a few live set pieces in-between. Even less live set work than Spidey and less elements that make those set pieces cool. Like the collapsing sets and light work that make you feel like you are rising to the New York Skyline, or the life pyro elements and items such as the crashing Garbage Truck. The only new element it brings is the elevator, and that is an efficiency of space tech, not anything that benefits the show factor of the attraction.

I'm going to chime in on this whole debate. I understand why you wouldn't want two very similar rides in parks right next to each other, BUT I would only have a problem if this was taking up PRIME (giggity) real estate in the park. Like the huge plot between MIB and Simpsons. We aren't getting TF in place of something else more daring, we're just getting TF. We're getting it right where an abandoned building used to stand, and to be honest, no other E could fit in that space EXCEPT Transformers (because of it's vertical blueprint).

So, we still have room for more expansion, we get rid of an old building and squeeze a new E ticket in a tiny area, and get more disbursement throughout the park. It's an all-around win.

As much as I don't like the movie Transformers and the fact that the ride is so similar to Spiderman, I have to say its better to have a new ride than a spot of land with nothing on it.

To reiterate what Jymmymack said, we are getting an epic E-ticket where before there was AN ABANDONED BUILDING. It's not like anyone had expected this to be happening a year ago. Comcast is pouring money on Uni and they are giving guests a proven attraction from the west coast and Singapore.

If you don't like it you don't have to ride it......

To put it in perspective, people here are whining about USF getting a replication E-ticket ride. Yet, what is WDW getting? Kiddie coasters and an omnimover. Go cry about that.

I am ok with getting an epic E-Ticket attraction as toss off distraction in a formerly abandon building while we wait for Potter. We all would have been fine with a couple of upgrades and show switch outs until Potter. But Uni decided to go over the top and give us a full blown thing instead. We could have gotten a water playground with an interactive queue.

We are getting something huge because USF had the real estate, the R&D was done, and it's reletively cheap and quick. BAM E-Ticket. Merry Christmas 2013.

I woud be happy if we were only getting a few water fountains in place of 44, sheesh. At least Transformers is something, and that something is NOTHING to complain about. It's gonna be great

Exactly we are getting an epic e-ticket attraction, we could just get a walk through experience or even worse nothing and just sound stage 44 staying the same. You guys who are slamming it for being the same ride system need to wake up and smell the roses (no offence).

Personally, I still refuse to believe it until Universal confirms it. I don't want to get my hopes up.

I'm sure people will be so disappointed when they have to go to another world class E-Ticket attraction at UOR. Really. Put things in perspective. It's not like we're getting a clone of the Little Mermaid.

agreed with whats been stated. We are finally getting something to replace that abandoned building, so regardless of what it might be, it is still better then what could still be there.(a ugly and unused soundstage). I'm excited for whatever it, regardless if it is transformers. It's going to be an nice addition to the park

I took the absolutely life-threatening risk of getting a few pics while I was at the park today for you all. ;) They're cell phone pics (from a crappy phone), so they might not be too good, but I risked a lot...like getting taken behind Louis' to have the mob deal with me...

It looks like they're getting ready to start foundation work. I'm betting they start getting the huge mound they made in the middle out tonight (and might get it all out tonight), as they had a dozer/loader going around and pushing the pile together and then smoothing things out as well as they could with the wet ground over in the corner closest to Monster's Cafe

Thanks for the pics! I haven't a clue what they are up to.. did that fill supposedly come from the site or was it brought in?

Also. It rained in Orlando today, 07/22???

Nevermind... I can see that they have cut very deep into the wall next to Monsters. Hmmmm... Why are they cutting unlevel? Or were there rises inside the old building?
