Lets be honest, we are not going to USF to see the outside of the building! It's what on the inside that counts :P

Not many of you complained about the look of SS44 when it sat there empty and had no theming on the NY side of it, but it was a soundstage so it was ok.

The theming is fine, and warehouse is fine in my book, now the only thematic problem in the area is Monsters Cafe...definitely has to get replaced now as much as I love the theme.

Vyrus, you had me with your last few posts in support of their approach. Actually, you have been one of the posters in the last few weeks who has influenced me on softening my own opinion, however, I can't make sense of why Monsters is now out of place?!

Everything over there is now out of place. HRRR, Deco Music Plaza, Soundstages, false facades, flats, out of scale roller coaster track, 50's carhop service restaurant, Twister. I hardly think Monsters is now the straw that broke the camel’s back. If Macy's and a public park can be next to an industrial defense complex, I think a Monster's Cafe is harmless. And I agree with you, I like the interior of that restaurant.

I think we all were hoping for a more consistent dining option for Transformers, I was one of them. In a perfect world it would be nice to see them find a home for the Universal Monsters in an attraction/dining combo somewhere else in the park. The regular roster of attractions are always brought up as being long in the tooth, but imho, the Beetlejuice show is numero uno in need of replacement.

I disagree. Plenty of people wanted something done with SS44. Weren't you the one who started the SS44 thread awhile ago? Everyone wanted it on the chopping block. But of course only so many people will talk about a building nothing was being done to. There's new contruction, so obviously people will critique it. Nature of the beast.

For those of you who think a thrilling rollercoaster like HRRR is garbage..your insane. It might be a little rough..but who cares its still an amazing and thrilling rollercoaster.

The ride is defintely for coaster fans. If somebody doesnt like coasters then i can see why they wouldnt like it. Its definitely an intense coaster at times but i think its one of the top thrilling coasters in florida for sure.

I'm a huge coaster fan. HRRR is complete and utter garbage. Terrible capacity, terrible theming, too many brake blocks, and the ride sucks after the hill and fake out loop. It's an awful, awful coaster.

Would everyone rather have the ride soon with the theming that's being done now? Or.. Wait longer to ride it and make it look more like the Nest building or fit in with the New York setting? I think the wearhouse look is coming out pretty sweet and can't wait to ride it!

I'd rather wait for proper theming

Both count. People ***** and moan about Potter's building, but a SLIGHTLY more themed version of it in the middle of USF is okay? Double standard.

It is indeed the only Transformers ride with all four sides visible. On the others, I don't see bar codes, but I do see the E7 and the other numbers all throughout the queue in the USS version, and in the USH version as well. And notice this pic by our own HTF:

Ah, thank you Felipe! Well that makes me feel a bit better. Being it's the only one right now visible from all 4 sides.

In 5 years, in 15 years, no one will care that Transformers opened Summer 2013 instead of Christmas 2013. Even if it helps Uni's short term marketing strategy for the less attended park for 6 extra months. The rush was more the tax liability issue and the need to show the capital improvement as completed than marketing anyways.

Just like today, no one cares that MGM was rushed to open before Universal, people complain incessantly over the design and limitations of that park. But in 1988 it all was excused to get it open for 1989. No one cared in 1990/1991 that BTTF was an ugly building when they were rushing it to have something substantial in the park, but I hear a lot of complaints about it now. Same with Dudley. Rush = less, when it comes to longterm opinions 9 times out of 10 for theme parks. Every now and then rush = stroke of genius, like the design shortcuts taken to get POTC and finally HM opened. I don't think this is one of those.

I'm glad you guys agree with me so I know I'm not crazy

And how much could it really have delayed the project? They're already starting exterior work in February. Work inside wouldn't be delayed as long as they still got the building closed up. I'd say mid-late Summer still would have been very possible.

And how many people will care about the exterior once Harry potter 2 is complete? We only care about it now cuz it's what is new. Once the next thing is done the exterior of the ride is going to be an afterthought. Once we get used to it being there it will blend.

Like HRRR and the FJ Show building?

Potter won't make Shrek, Beetlejuice, or FFL any more appealing than they already are. Phase II isn't a catch all for the problems the park has. You can't move forward with the mentality that Potter will fix everything. Eventually that too will no longer be "new" and people will want the rest of the park up to standard.

To me its a little out of place just because now how DWARFED it is by the new building, but otherwise I love the restaurant.

Yea, I started this thread because it sucked having an EMPTY building in the middle of the park, I wasn't harping on the look of the building like most people are mainly.

Yes but lets be honest for a second... In 3-5 years shrek and more importantly beetlejuice shouldn't be around still. And those are far and wide more MEH than transformers will be. And as for hrrr I like that ride a lot so it doesn't bother me at all.

Okay. But who complains about how an EMPTY building looks? The issue is it's empty. That alone makes it an eyesore. Why bother going into appearance? And Universal wasn't spending and didn't have the reputation it does today when the building was occupied. So people expected no better.

We will keep going around in circles, and I don't want to be a bother to you. That is the whole point of my concern that you previously disagreed with. Everything is now dwarfed. So using the standard you speak of, we should tear out the NY sets and Mel's too?

At this point, I have accepted the current setup on this half of the USF park. I just hope each future project is an improvement for the guests and is in harmony with its surroundings. The dwarf argument is valid, I guess we approach it differently. The Godfather of themed environments, John Hench, didn't believe that every opinion was right/valid. He felt that an area cannot have inconsistencies. Inconsistencies can quickly unravel a whole lot of work and effort in making an area appeal to guests. That if a place doesn't work, guests won't spend as much time and money in that area, it won't click well in that person's subconscious. Maybe in 2013 that theory no longer carries water, or means anything. But WWoHP would show that John's approach still works.

Again, I know dead-horse, me-beat.

Time to move on from this debate. As stated, it's going around in circles. Move on and agree to disagree.

That leads to something I never thought of before....was the style of the BTTF building, *ahem* Institute of Future Technology, based on something with a similar layout? It was definitely a unique looking one, even if not everyone liked it.

Tell that to the person who has AP passes that will expire before Christmas & cant/wont be able to afford to renew them, & they were REALLY loooking forward to riding Transformers, & wouldnt be able to if it were to open after they expired & they werent able to go & ride it now, if ever.

This thread is dead to me after all this non sense. If anyone truly thinks that TF's exterior design changed during design and construction they've missed the mark. If anyone thinks that the exterior appeal of TF's is worse than SS44 then you missed the boat. If anyone thinks that outside of some themepark nerds this exterior is going to hurt guest satisfaction surveys your wrong. This whole argument has nothing to do with the masses. It's all about a bunch of themepark nerds arguing over exterior styling. It's an Eticket in the middle of the park that replaced an empty building within 7.5 months. You don't like it, fine. I have no problem with that. But quit bringing Disney, Creative, SeaWorld, the general public, President Obama, Dwight Howard and the Lakers into this when someone disagrees with you.
