They look like safety cables for the workers to clip on.

I am not sure what those cables are either... there is a coil between them so they are meant to be extended at some point. I am not sure we have any highrise steelwork experts on here at all. We have a ton of knowledgeable people, but I am not sure we will know the exact answer to this one.

It looks like they are clipped onto the steel beams with giant clips I worked in the construction industry for two years but only as a drywall hanger/finisher.

The cables are most likely to keep the workers from walking off the edge of the decking. There will be a floor there. The coils of cable will likely span the open space creating a continuous guard.

Drove by Oceaneering again yesterday. I saw something that was VERY interesting, if I saw what I think I did.

Sorry, giving details may hamper my ability to observe the facility. If you look at my previous posts in this thread, it shouldn't be that hard to decipher.

Unless Florida is a "State Plan" OSHA state, which they very well may be, the cables aren't actually required if they are for fall protection, depending on who's using them. For connectors for structural steel, you aren't required to provide fall protection if the fall to the next level is under 25 feet. Which is absolutely stupid, because even anyone who's taken a remedial OSHA course will tell you 25 feet is plenty enough to kill you.

Yeah kida silly.
Considering a fall from six foot can be fatal, but steel workers have different standards and a higher comp rate.
We are suposed to have gaurd rails on our scaffold if the platform reachs six foot

No, not really. Said poster has a proven connection with Oceaneering.

Once again your lack of knowledge and condescending tone on this site shine through.
