Green screens can easily be set up along with any production. It happens all the time in filming movies.

Although just talk of that reminds me of the ugly Chroma key green wall at the exit of Space Mountain...

I would LOVE it. Very "Production Central".

I don't have a problem with the building thus far. Universal Studios is a movie studios theme park and a building that looks like a soundstage or warehouse in the Production Central section of the park is acceptable IMHO. Though, I would like to see a facade of some type or a downtown urban look that blends in on the side facing the New York streets. It's not much different from anything else in Production Central. It's similar to the buildings in DHS, also a movie studios themed park. However, if this type of building were in IOA , a much more immersible park, then it would stand out like an eyesore if it remains unthemed. But its not in IOA, its in the Studios.

Production Center stands out for being a good representation of the "old" studios. Bare bones theme because, hey, it's a studio so we can just do whatever we want and hide behind that moniker. But this is the Comcast era, and so far this is a step in the complete opposite direction of the rest of the park.

Springfield, WWOHP, and even the eventual Kidzone redo will be breaking the mold of the "studio" park. Just because it's called Universal Studios doesn't mean they can't make it seem like you're in a movie.

Sound stages work when you feature production which obviously isn't in the cards anytime soon. But just because there are Sound stages there now doesn't mean they can't do better. What about the future when Shrek and HRR are gone/fixed and something like TF will stand out. I don't understand the everything else is pretty bad so it's okay that this isn't great. Then things never get better.

I obviously would have preferred a layered facade, especially considering NY. But it bothers me that they are stuck in this sort of limbo. It's not really a warehouse and it's not really a military facility. It just makes the design seem lazy to me.

Was at the park today and I think this looks much better in person. It's not the most incredible theming ever, but I think it works.

I apologize that these shots aren't the best. I don't own a fancy camera like the rest of you.

Just making sure that you guys realize that a state-of-the-art attraction is coming in less than 11 months after the building that originally stood there was demolished.

Anyone know what the themeing here will be? I'm guessing pipes etc on the flat supports but i'm wondering what the 'stick outs' are for?

I think we've gone over that countless times here. But if Spider-Man of FJ's exterior weren't as immersive into their environments, than that kinda of ruins a part of it from the start, no?

Not saying this won't turn out well, but i'm still a little skeptical.

I'm not arguing that, but I'm not going to jump on them for doing something unprecented. Can't have the cake, and eat it too kinda thing.

BriMan sums it up quite well. Who could have guessed, back in July, that this would be standing here today at this stage of development. Hats off to Universal....And, considering the exterior, remember what that great sage Yankee catcher Yogi Berra said, "It ain't over until it's over".

I'm a whole lot less concerned about the exterior than I am the queue. Have we heard anything about the queue yet? Universal's queues are fantastic, in my opinion, and I hope to see that trend continue.

Without having seen the building in person, I think it looks good and quite 'transformersy'. The only bad picture i've seen is the one from across the lagoon but look how big the gringotts building is going to be, it will be difficult to hide that too so it may transformers may fit in more once that is up! All things aside, well done to universal and all those involved for what has been achieved so far!

That's great now. But it won't make it look any better a few years from now. It's not going to ruin the attraction by any means. But I'm not going to pretend like I think it's a good thing. I think there's room to criticize while still appreciating the insane construction schedule.

It's the same thing with DC. I would never trade the rest of WWOHP for a better queue and theme, but that still doesn't mean I'm happy about it

As I said way back at the beginning of construction when everyone was freaking out that "we are getting a Quasi-Spider-man Clone". Considering this is a plug and play tax break to draw people pre-Potter, I am OK with it. They could done a "Disney" and filled the time with more M&Gs. And after they dirty up the rest of it, I think it will be OK. Not GREAT!, but just fine. And I know that saying that it is Production Central isn't a great excuse, but I do think it will look better than a soundstage. It is in an area of the park without a real Macrotheme. They are doing some placemaking macrothemeing around the rest of the park. Which is sort of a new thing for USF, and Production Central is last last hold-over of the original feel of the park.

That said, while I know that we will be getting sculptures instead of flats, I wouldn't be surprised if the angled entrance has a big vibrant wrap behind the sculpture.

By the way, I am hearing that the KidZone redo is shaping up nicely. A few more contractual issues to hammer out and they're good to go. Macrothemed with great microthemeing.

Oooh! Can't wait to hear more about this. I'm hoping it's a Dreamworks land (Or LOTR, but that seems unlikely)
