Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm in the same boat in that I'm hoping the grand opening coincides with Memorial Day Weekend, just in time for our currently-planned trip. Maybe I'll see you in line, UNIrd!

I feel like I should have mentioned that my girlfriend...is a student. She went back to school after a few years of working to get an advanced degree. But this means that when the kids go back to school, she will be doing the same.

I'm thinking about taking Florida Dude's advice and bumping the trip back to mid-August.

Felipe, we're from New York so we're flying direct from LaGuardia. We're pretty used to the heat. NY has two seasons - bitter cold winters, and brutally hot and humid summers

NY, cool! Two season just like Florida! Though, we don't get as cold as you guys get in the winter, I know.
I think you'll have a better time in August, especially if you're used to the heat and humidity. The ride should definitely be open, and there should be noticeably less crowds than at the peak of summer. Then if you stay on-site and get express, you're golden! Good luck and have an awesome trip, man!!

Took a closer look at what I could see of the line setup, and I think the overflow block would only hold about 45 minutes, if that, without Express. Given that this will be a new ride with Express from the start...I'd hedge on doubling that if you get in line at the wrong time. Also, you can tell that they don't intend for that block to be there all too long for every day use by how they have the rails set up and put into the ground. Very smart, as its easier and looks a lot nicer than having to go in later and re-weld and rip up and patch concrete/asphalt. If it weren't for Express being used, I would actually say the overflow block is fine as it is, lack of shade and all. Also, the building keeps growing on me, and I really can't wait to see Optimus over the entrance area.

As for when its "officially" opening...I know someone who would be able to give me as concrete an answer as you can possibly get, but I rarely see them, maybe once every two months. I expect I'll know when they intend to do softs as soon as a day or two before, though. I'll definitely keep my ears open and info flowing if I get it.

So... I've got a question. If the construction walls are down, and there are no more cranes on site (at TF)... how exactly are they going to get Optimus up there? Am I being ignorant or missing something?

Optimus could very well possibly already be near his final position on the building. The level that overhangs the Supply Vault on the lagoon side has a wall around it that's around 5 to 6 feet tall...that's kind of why you can't see the large garage door with the NEST logo on it in it's entirety until you're looking at the building from just past Starbucks. Hidden walk space=instant hidden storage. It is not out of the question that Optimus is up there in crates just waiting to be put together when the time is right...or I could be wrong and he could be hidden back in one of the backstage warehouse buildings behind MIB and The Simpsons ride and is fully assembled already.

You don't need a tower crane to put OP up. It can be done with a simple truck crane.

Depending on how OP is mounted it could even be done with something as simple as a forklift.

There's nothing really to see anymore now that all the walls are down. The only construction we can see right now is for the new Transformers M&G building. We're basically just waiting on the sign, Optimus, and any sign of a Energon stand.

I don't expect softs for quite awhile still. Probably about a month from now we'll be close.

Yes I am. Hopefully this birdie's info is correct. Apparently there will not be a great deal of animation but animated non the less. I was also told it will move on the building

TP4L just needs to get over it.
