Reclaiming the BMG theater for daily theme park use should definitely happen if it's logistically feasible.

IF the BMG venue gets taken back for USF, perhaps a dark ride of some sort In that spot can be fast tracked for 2028 after F&F opens to tide guests over ahead of Pokemon debuting in 2030.

I think the BMG building being taken back over by the park can be a big gamechanger. You could even use the front plaza area as a "mini land" of sorts.

Asking from a place of ignorance here: Is reclaiming the Blue Man Group building actually in the realm of possibility? That's currently where they do Grinchmas, right? So, it's "controlled" by the theme park but currently occupied for a good chunk of the year?

Secondary question: Who is in control of Blue Man? Is it a case like the Film Production soundstages where it's never going back to the Parks side of operations?

Where did they do Grinchmas when Blue Man Group had shows?

I'm genuinely asking, I don't know.

From my understanding, all of the soundstages (including the Sharp Aquos theater space) are OWNED by Film Production. The only park-owned soundstage is 33. The parks actually rent the soundstages from Films for HHN and Grinchmas.

At least, that’s how it was a few years ago.

Maybe Comcast could strike some sort of deal to acquire the stages back from Film Production if they still indeed own it.

I think - realistically, if the park wanted to take the BMG theater back for something, they'd figure everything out. Grinchmas would be shifted elsewhere.

Before BMG, before SS20, Grinchmas was held on an outdoor stage next to CITH

The original Grinchmas show was an all day event that happened on a smaller stage in the "center" pathway of the land with the "Wonky Tree". The show was split into 3 parts, the 3rd being at dusk to "light the tree".

Back to SS20 I'm sure. Or budget cut to be outside again.

Should we not rule out, the BMG theatre, and entrance space before it, become Illumination themed? I’d assume Sing! Live On Tour fits BMG. Those films are very popular still. The rest of the area could become flat rides and splash pads, maybe some food too. Basicallly Super Silly Fun Land but with the Sing show attached

Comcast owns the Film Production division too. It’s all Comcast.

The reason why Films has always been very against losing that particular building is it’s the only soundstage with connected production offices. That makes it the most attractive of the bunch, but only for long-term usage. It’s a “better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it,” situation.

To underline this point, a priority for several of the newer stages built on the Hollywood lot was office space attached, including the massive buildings adjacent to the New York street sets. Having production and writers' offices on-site and accessible to set is a huge asset.

So I assume this means at least for the time being BMG is off-limits for USF expansion?

As has been said many times at this point, yes, it is until it isn't.

They have enough Studios poor attractions/unused theater that they can expand to. They really don't need the former BMG area. Plus they have an empty land sitting in IOA.

When the time comes and all other expansion options in USF are used up, then perhaps Comcast could put their foot down and claw back the space for USF park use.

I honestly think the importance of this specific attraction location for use at USF is being vastly overestimated. Mad Dog said it perfect. BMG could potentially be nice, but it's likely going to be a long time before it's year-round use is needed or expected. FFL needs to be filled, and a Pokemon show could be a good addition/replacement for AA. At that point, FFL, Bourne, HMUS, Dreamworks, AA/Pokemon, the Diagon Alley live entertainment, the NY/Hollywood street shows like Beat Builders and Blues Brothers, alongside Cinesational is frankly a pretty large and varied live show lineup that outpaces both IoA and EU, if not in quality then at least in amount and variety.

Alicia has hinted that it's possible the HRRR replacement may not be on track (pardon the pun) to get rolling next year.

IF that's the case, Universal would not appear to feel any urgency to address this park's deficits as soon as possible post-Epic Universe. Their initial ticket offerings for Epic imply they're worried (to at least some degree) about attendance here, but there does not seem* to be a corresponding desire to get new (significant) projects into an active state... again, IF the HRRR replacement isn't materializing quickly.

*Based on what we know, which isn't everything, because none of us are in the rooms where the discussions are taking place.
