The Dark Universe was the original early pitched concept for an Epic Universe land, so I wonder if names like Stake House we’re for that version? The Drive In Theater ride where it was actually about monster movies may have been more fitting for something so self-aware, but much less immersive than the direction they seem to be taking.

Was the drive in supposed to be like GMR? Would have loved that but I will take a more grounded UCM land happily. Wish they could just move whatever the drive in was going to be to the hub or something. Or just put it in studios since that makes sense to celebrate movies there; but then there I go adding another indoor attraction to studios. :bonk:

The concept art was floating around last year, it was like a Drive-In movie theater where trackless ride vehicles would all cross paths and lead to show scenes starring the different monsters along the border of the show building, criss-crossing in multiple patterns through the drive-in scene to get from vignette to vignette.

I think it's a pretty neat concept. Would like to see the idea repurposed for USF at some point.

As long as we have Monsters and SNW all I care about is that we get a Bill Paxton land somewhere on Universal property. It's just not right to not have Bill Paxton not there somewhere.

Oh yea I forgot, it’s woods you pass through between sequences, the drive in just the opening.

I didn’t share it because, despite being originally posted to the artist’s portfolio, not sure if we wanted to have unofficially released concept art shared here.

EDIT: The artist does still have the art up on their site so I guess UOR was cool with it.

Yea, I don't think it would happen, but it feels like a great concept for the studios somewhere

If they get creative and use a second floor, you can put it in Shrek and utilize Hello Kitty as the facade and queue. (Blue Sky Dreaming ofc)

Am I the only one not at all interested in this ride concept? It's neat on paper, but I get the feeling I wouldn't care for it in practice.

I don't know how well it would adapt to non-horror properties (the "travel through a big spooky forest" element would be as much of a draw for me as whatever the actual vignettes might be), but I think the general concept of passing through the screen into various films would be a great way to return to some of the "Ride the Movies" flavor of classic USF. Many of us have talked about wanting to see Universal's version of The Great Movie Ride, and this could accomplish that.

Providing a set of slightly different experiences seems like a clever use of space, as well. And I particularly appreciate that all the scenes appear to be mostly in a traditional dark ride style (which USF could really use).

I'd be okay with it if it means Pokemon goes to USF.

EDIT: Put Illumination (SLoP, Minions Freeze Ray spinner, SSFL, Sing Show) in the expansion pad between Nintendo and Monsters, Pokemon in KidZone. Make it happen, UOR.

Based on @Alicia's new piece, basically the rumors so far are potentially leaning in the direction of the VR ride, the Monsters show, and the HTTYD show all being cut (possibly), but no real indication of things yet being added to replace them? Is that an accurate summary?

Cutting the HTTYD show would be particularly disappointing, as that's kind of supposed to be the E-ticket for the land, isn't it?

I believe TPU about as far as I could throw the Kong animatronic.

That's a good trade off...I feel SLoP is perfect for Studios as they already have Yoshi...But it's not necessarily a huge deal

I true Minions dark ride would be a lot of fun though in EU
