Yup. This looks good to me.

Ticks all the right boxes and seems like a fresh idea for the area.

As the kid who loved water rides more than anything else in theme parks growing up, I am in love with this ride

It SEEMS good on paper to have a Splash Battle ride, but the fact that parks have installed and removed them already doesn't speak very highly of their reliability/popularity.

Maybe this is a next gen model with some new twist and/or improved operations?

I wonder if there's gonna be a Dracula-based attraction or haunted house in this new Monsters area of Epic Universe.

Dracula will almost certainly be involved in the main ride of the land.

I gotta wonder, for the French Ministry potential ride, I wonder if we are going to be “captured” like the No Mags we are, then Newt and crew or Dumbledore will have to help us escape. A wizard comes up to us in the queue and takes us throughout the queue from there on out and sets us off on our journey, where we soon learn our heroes out there to save us, although hoping it’s interactive so we have some work to do as well.

Sorta feels and sounds like Rise but I do personally believe that kind of immersive experience in a way making you directly invovled in the story from the get go is what the future of theme parks will be. I think this could work well.

I know your speculating about the ride and you did not choose to make a ride about Fantastic Beasts, so don’t take this personally.

but that first paragraph sounds terrible andI hate it. It’s really a huge bummer we have to get a land based on those trash films

I understand the films aren’t amazing but I trust Universal to make an incredible Wizarding world feel that happens to take place in the Fantastic Beasts timeline. I got no issues with this land whatsoever. The Beasts are all so fun imo when we’ve seen them in the films, the setting and world building that those films have done is A+ imo. Everything else is meh but all you need is the incredible world building and immersion to make an awesome theme park land, I’m sure UC and JK Rowling (remember this is her newest and most precious project) to create one of the stronger Wizarding Worlds we’ve seen.

My idea still might suck tho lol there are reasons I’m not in creative.

I can’t agree with the setting and world building being any good. The best looking locations are just cheap knockoffs of the MOM.

And Im sure the land will be good. UC hasn’t missed with Potter. It’s just a land I can garner 0 excitement for due to the source material. It’s the Pandora of EU

but people LOVE Pandora, so I’m not worried. I see your point, but since this is building off the Potter franchise I think you’ll be able to connect to the land itself much much more once you’re there. Just my take on it, feels natural for them to go this route as the movies translates so well to the theme parks.

Edit: Sorry to create work for the mods but I think there’s some sort of glitch going on with my messages continuing to repeat my message or show my previous message, not sure what’s going on but I’m sorry it’s taking up space. Message wasn’t in my original response either

Aside from the fact that this is 'more Potter' which I'm excited about (especially if it involves Dumbledore), I'm also excited that we'll be visiting 1920s Paris. There's potential to get nostalgic, since we've just entered into the 20s, it'll be essentially a 100 years time capsule.

There's a lot of creative potential for this to be a really awesome experience. Think about the other two Potter lands, they have both the location and IP to build off of, but the time period is the not too distant past, so it doesn't feel very different (aside from certain cast members pretending not to know what a cell phone is). For FB, they have the IP, location, and time, a triple threat for land experience. So even if some people don't care about FB or Paris, they might think it's neat to time travel to the 1920s.

Changing the topic back to Classic Monsters... I just saw the new Invisible Man movie last night and it was awesome. It's also doing very at the box office, pulling in 49 million global opening weekend on a very low budget (I believe 7 million + marketing). I thought the writing, acting, directing were all stellar, which is somewhat rare for the horror genre.

Hopefully will spark new life and interest into the Classic Monsters franchise. I've seen rumors for additional films (Invisible Woman, Bride of Frankenstein, Reinfield/Dracula), and I'm hoping they follow on the path as Invisible Man. I don't think any of these will be Blumhouse, so we'll need to see what they get to do next for the franchise.

I don't think any of this will have a direct impact on EU, though it could make the characters more culturally relevant and popular rather than just "classic." It could also influence Creative /Entertainment to ensure we're taking the characters seriously (in line with the new films).

Update:
Jason Blum (Blumhouse) expressed some interest in doing Frankenstein, though this is just a comment from him and nothing official.

Found this Mack rides boat concept. The test raft moves kind of slow but with enough theming and effects this could be cool for Creature From The Black Lagoon

Man I am still angry they won’t have a flying experience in HTTYD. The roller coaster is just pointless without a true flying experience.

I don’t see the coaster as pointless but seems the cheaper way out to me. I just feel based on the track the coaster time might be 2 min or so and I’d hope it’s as long as Hagrid’s. Maybe I’m bad at judging it however. I think this lands appeal/draw is going to be that show, the building is massive. And, the land itself. Lends itself very easily to a great environment. Let’s hope the coaster can really deliver.

Pointless on how does a coaster fit a land for flying dragons? If that’s the E-ticket then it’s a big disappointment for me.

Idk this is pure speculation but I think they were too afraid of Flight of Passage comparisons, or they just couldn’t make the tech work in time. Perhaps an expansion one day

they built F&F/Kong and Spider-Man/Transformers virtually right next to one another

This is true, but maybe they don't want strict comparisons from rides outside their own resort. Just a thought

If I was to speculate, I think they had plans to make a flying simulator using the patents they filed a few years ago:
Flight-3.jpgflight-1.jpgFlight-2.jpgcycle-5.jpgCycle-6.jpg

I think for whatever reason, it wasn't a feasible idea. The capacity could have been too low, it might have been technically unreliable, if somebody was sick it would land downwards onto the screen, it could have been uncomfortable, it could have been boring, they couldn't develop the right idea, who knows.
