The average lifespan of a steel coaster is 20 years. So we're already half way there.
Yeah, was about to mention we still got 10 years with the thing. Hulk lasted 17ish years, RockIt opened in 2009 so it's currently in it's mid-life.

Hulk and RockIt will be the only coasters Universal wants with metal detectors. I'm sure once RockIt becomes unbearable to maintain they will probably rework the layout to avoid guest areas at all costs.

Mt. Prometheus is the central icon that’s meant to be seen much like Cinderella Castle. Raging Spirits is themed as a mine train which last I checked need tracks in reality to work so nothing is out of theme. When it comes to Dragon Challenge, well, point me to a scene in the movies or a page of the books where such a mass of steel looms over Hogsmeade.
I’ll wait.
I'll put money on the JP coaster not having metal detectors

It’s most likely going to go over guest pathways,

It is?
over the water
You answered your own question.
But aren’t there steel coasters in other parks that have been running much longer and without replacement?

They’ll put the queue under cover, if I’m a betting man. And most of the coaster will be over the water, and won’t travel over any guest pathways. It’s not going to be exclusively over the water. Plus, you also have to account for the queue.
And probably close off part of the guest area down in front of Discovery Center near lagoon. They’ll put the queue under cover, if I’m a betting man. And most of the coaster will be over the water, and won’t travel over any guest pathways.
To be honest, I don’t think Universal cares about these things as much as everyone thinks they do. They probably couldn’t care less about metal detectors.

Yes, but it is dependant on how hard they run them and the type of maintenance they do.But aren’t there steel coasters in other parks that have been running much longer and without replacement?
