I'm curious... Does anyone know the width of the set Diagon Alley in the Studio Tour?

In permit review, "Fire" has been raising hell about the width and height clearance (if this is Project 7448.)

^ What kinds of hell? We do like details.

And you others... minimum 50' is the rule for what exactly? And where is this stated and how is it stated... what is it relative to?

Vague is not helpful on any point here.

Oh crap, I was mistaken. Minimum is 20'

Fire Dept-Access to Building
A fire department access road shall extend within 50 ft of a single exterior door providing access to the interior of the building. Fire department access roads shall be provided such that any portion of the facility or any portion of an exterior wall of the first story of the building is located not more than 150 ft (450 ft for sprinkler protected structures) from fire department access roads. [NFPA 1: 18.2.3.2]
Fire Dept-Access Roads
The plans do not show proper fire department access roadways to the building. Roadways shall have all-weather driving surface, capable of supporting the load of fire apparatus, shall be at least 20 ft. in width, and shall have a minimum vertical clearance of at least 13 ft. 6 in. Please submit revisions correcting this deficiency. [NFPA 1: 18.2.3.1]

And the hell comment was just hyperbole. Just normal Permit hi-jinks.

Tonight I'm going to be working on a rendering. Can anybody repost the basic layout/site plan of the new sea wall?

Did Briman ever answer whether or not he saw a curve in the rebar for the new wall they were building? By curve I meant horizontal curve.

Given the layout of the land it's safe to assume they have left space to expand here. Curious too see if Japan opens theirs with a "unique" attraction.

Just for fun. Not based off of anything except for Albert Embankment and relative location of new wall segments.

Ok, that is what I thought but was just checking. And please do not forget Victoria, it is much more park like in some places.

Although the width of the street itself may be wide for traffic/safety reasons, I think the creative team will use the weird curvature/lean of the buildings to their advantage... almost like forced perspective. Perhaps the buildings will lean a little farther over the path (farther than normal) to kind of create that enclosed feeling you would normally experience in Diagon Alley! Thus making it seem that we are in fact walking down a tiny little alley.

The point that is being made is that the width of the street is now known... and in places it is too narrow for a Potter theme park. We are working off from ground-measurements and not leaning-building measurements. Doesn't really matter because Universal will make zillions and guests will be sort of happy they got to visit the grail of imaginary places.

Think of it this way: Potter Die-Hards won't care. To them, this is Mecca.

Think of it this way: The average USF guest is not a Potter die hard. And personally, I'm not interested in investigating the deodorant strength of Brazilian tour groups and large southerns. In the end, it's a theme park and things need to be reasonable.
