Its funny to go back and read the old threads about Comcast buying Universal and how everyone one was predicting that it would bring an end to Universal and everything thing would turn to crap. When now after the sale the parks are in the best condition they have ever been in and they are getting many new great additions. Considering people were making these types of comments.

If comcast buys NBC-Universal we're screwed.

Building permit filed today for Building 65 which is probably Ollivanders. It's the island in phase 2

Oh I own part of this, having dealt with "old" Comcast and their horrid customer service, hardware issues, rude and obnoxiously late employees, and months of service issues with a 125 ft long trench in my front yard. I hated the idea of them taking over a resort that with the help of a boy wizard finally began to see the light again. All I could think of was Universals customer service taking a dive even further than the mid 2000's and it was something I couldn't be excited about. Fast forward to 2012 and Comcast, who I still have is a totally different company and the new executives have cleaned house and made some massive and dare I say company saving changes. Also who knew the top of the totem pole were theme park fans?

Unfortunately I'm still dealing with the old Comcast as far as HSI / Cable goes. Finally got an ongoing HSI issue fixed about 4 months ago. Still dealing with my CableCards dropping out between one and six times a month. In my area Comcast still has no clue.

On the other hand. At least so far, I am impressed with their apparent commitment to the Universal properties.

Let's put it this way...the queue includes a really cool elevator ride that will simulate moving vertically and horizontally. You'll feel the air coming from the right side as you move to the right and you'll feel the air from below as you travel down. Each of the two elevator simulators include a projection dome above to enhance the visuals. That's just in the queue.

So do you think this means that the speculation about the main attraction been a coaster/dark ride with a drop section is incorrect. Iam not a massive Potter fan so not really watched all the movies but if there doing a lift effect in the queue then there not going to repeat in the ride with a drop are they?

Apples and oranges. The elevator in the queue won't really move. It will be a simulated elevator like the one in MiB.

If it's anything like the elevator queue in Journey to the Center of the Earth, we're in for a major treat. That is one of my favorite queues ever.

Probably more like the elevator queue for Astro Orbitor. Haha.

I'm dead curious how they plan to turn around the Hogwarts Express train. Elevated track? One of those spinning circles?

It will be elevated. They've been working on pylon foundations for over a month now.

It has been my assumption that the train will not have to turn around at all. If there is an engine visable in the stations, it would only be a facade of one and it wouldn't go anywhere. That is just my guess however.

This is starting to break my brain. I clearly haven't thought of this issue deeply before. I'm extremely curious to how this will be done, and would love to hear more elaborations and theories!

Wasn't this the topic of conversation a few months ago? Was there not some type of cable-pulley system that seemed to be the best fit for the job? That way the trains do not need to turn, but rather just run back and forth on the track

If the trains are using some sort of screen as windows from the inside, how do we suspect the windows will appear from outside the train while loading in the stations?

Or maybe you will walk into the train and it wont even have conventional windows but instead will be replaced by what ever they plan on projecting the images on and so when you get instead of a live view of outside it will be of images from Potter and will keep playing while the ride goes to the other side

Someone should ask whylightbulb if transparent OLED plays a part in this effect. That would be cutting edge.

how would that work? my friend and i have been trying to figure out how the train would turn around from hogsmeade to diagon alley, and have thought of ideas like the engine turning only and attaching itself to the rest of the train cars, or a bridge that would allow the train to make a 180 turn from station to station.?

I'm not exactly sure of the details, but I remember something being talked about that was along the lines of this: a train that was connected on either end by one big cable, and it could be pulled into one station (Hogsmeade) and then (without reversing) simply pulled out of that station and into another one (Kings cross). All with pulleys, so there is no actual on-board engine. Think of something like a tramway (skii-lefts) but in a train form with a track and all that good stuff.
