Not to play devil's advocate, but is it? I mean yes people are excited about JW, but many are equally as skeptical. My point is, I don't think Universal would ever start planning an attraction prior to a release again. Look at Waterworld. Sure it's a great show, but I'd be hard pressed to know anyone who would be drawn to the park for that IP, even back in '96. I guess my point is, Beasts would need to come, make a killing at the box office and then Creative would make moves. By then, you're talking 2018 if not 2019 before it opens depending on the scale. I feel like by then Universal will begin focusing on other IP's. My personal opinion though.

On the flip side, Waterworld was an original IP. Fantastic Beast's is coming off of one of the biggest and most popular series (books AND films) in the last 50 years, one that still has an extremely rabid fan base. Regardless of the quality of the film, Fantastic Beasts will do well.

Theres a lot of space between Spiderman and Hulk, where Doom is, but Doom is a great ride for what it is. Im curious to know why people want that removed before any other attractions in IOA like the entire island of Toon Lagoon or Lost Continent. And I don't think anyone is confident with the state of the Marvel IP to be building a new Marvel themed attraction in that area.

Yea...I wouldn't call Doom great in any capacity.

Not confident in the Marvel IP? You mean the movie series that is currently the most profitable in the world?

Here's my prediction, ministry of magic dark ride or experience to replace fear factor, fantastic beasts show to replace sinbad. Two parks, two reasons to go, two expansions of the two potter lands. The marketing and advertising campaigns speak for themselves along with cross promotion of fantastic beasts.....calling it now

Exactly and so will JW. People will go into anything just because recognize or love it when it comes to existing franchises, even if it sucks (Star Wars prequels). JW will probably be one of the biggest movies of the year and when fantastic beasts comes out, expect box office breaking stats. Way more easy to expect greatness from them than a very overconfident water world or even worse van helsing

Don't u guys think it's a little overkill with a phase 3 of Potter? Anyway onto another subject. I just cannot see spongebob taking over Kidzone and heres why. Universal has been so dependent on food and merchandise sales so y open a spongebob area right next to Fast Food Boulevard where they won't have the ability to capitalize on opening a Krusty Krab. And even if they do open a Krusty Krab it won't do as well as it could because of how close it is to Fast Food Boulevard. This is y I think we will see spongebob in a certain waterpark.

There's clearly still the demand, and nothing else is happening with Fear Factor theater.

I pray for this potter crap to come to an end. Don't get me wrong I like the new areas and the theming is top notch but it's basically taken over all of the gift shops, even in different islands! Lets bring that top notch theming to another new concept. Not everyone in the world likes HP, developing new lands like King Kong is going to attract yet another audience.

I think sooner rather than later the HP stuff will stop and we will get some new stuff. Right now, there's still a demand for it and while I am not a HP fan, it gives us great rides, great theming, and most importantly to Universal, money. With HP money, Universal will continue to grow and give us non-potter stuff.

If there is a 3rd phase and if it takes over the Fear Factor area (but not MIB :fist:) I would have no problem with it since that Fear Factor area is dead so anything would be an improvement. After the 3rd phase, I'd like to see it come to an end.

The 3rd Phase, as far as I know, was always intended to be pluses and extensions of existing areas.

This Phase 3 talk is pretty interesting...I may be wrong but isn't this the first time in theme park history that 1 single IP has been devoted to 2 major expansions? Obviously Phase 2 worked out pretty well but I think it would be interesting to see how the public reacts/what demand there is to see a THIRD attraction be devoted to the same theme as 2 previous large-scale additions. I mean, a lot of info gets lost between Universal and the general public when it comes to communicating new additions--some people still think Harry Potter is its own theme park, or that Diagon Alley always existed along with Hogsmeade, or that Diagon Alley even exists as its own separate attraction at all. It would be interesting to see if there's a big dropoff in terms of attendance gains between the first two phases and a third (especially since the last Harry Potter movie is getting older and older).

A Phase 3 of anything is welcoming in my eyes. I don't care what it is expansion and offering of attractions that are quality is all in returning to a world class resort. After all I enjoyed the HP expansions like anyone else without ever having read a Harry Book.

My feelings exactly. Never read a book or watched a whole movie, but we are mesmerized by what Universal has done with HP. Can't get enough...But, of course, still looking forward to other great attractions like Kong. Diversity is the spice of life.

Just a fad...like that kid with the broomstick...what's that called again?

I find it funny some of the comments about Doom, from it's too short, to it's not what I expected, to that sucked....yeah I'd be fine with it leaving...

Makes sense...only thing is that I've heard that the water park will be all original...I mean corporate may try to shove a few IPs in, but for the most part I've heard it is IP-less...could be wrong

I love what they did with Potter too...but I hope to see some more lands and attractions based off other IPs before a return to Potter for a phase 3. Honestly, I hope after phase 3 is done, that's it. They've devoted quite a bit of money and space to Potter. There are so many other things to use in the theme parks: more Marvel? Jurassic World? Lord of the Rings? Star Trek? Fast and the Furious? Maybe a throwback to revisiting older properties like Back to the Future or Jaws?

Projects in-between Hogsmeade and Diagon:

-Despicable Me
-New Spider-man
-Cinespec
-Parade
-Springfield
-Transformers
-Cabana Bay
-CityWalk Redo

Projects in between Diagon and a possible Phase 3:

-Wondersea/Volcano Bay
-Sapphire Falls
-Kong
-Etc

I'd say they do a pretty dang good job with giving us a variety.

To be fair, if a person stays off-property, dislikes water parks, and views CityWalk primarily just as scenery to walk by on your way to the park gates, some of that has little bearing on your overall enjoyment. It's all great/necessary for the resort's longevity, but if somebody cares about variety in terms of rides and lands, I can kind of see Cheezbat's point, albeit to a small degree. I think Cheezbat's talking about getting another IP in the parks that receives the Potter-esque "full-on immersion" treatment. Minion Mayhem, Transformers, and Kong aren't part of ultra-detailed, complete lands (granted, they could not be due to the constraints of their locations, and Kong certainly does look like "ultra-detailed" will definitely apply to it), and Springfield was kind of reverse-engineered to fit into that style. All are great additions, and I'm glad to have them, of course, but I think the general point is let's get STAR TREK or LORD OF THE RINGS (or something we don't yet know about) on wheels utilizing Diagon Alley levels of detail and theming before going to the Potter well for a third or fourth time (for the record, I'll take as much Potter as I can get... but all in due time).

Having said that, Universal has earned my trust. We can all talk about what we'd love to see them build in a perfect world, or what we think they could have done better here and there, but overall I believe they know what they're doing, and I'm happy to see the parks - and the resort in general - continue to grow as they see fit, even if things like Cabana Bay, Volcano Bay, and Sapphire Falls are unlikely to be utilized be me. They'll certainly be enjoyed by others, and that's a good thing.

I would not mind seeing Shrek go. There's just really nothing to it. Has anyone seen how faded the pictures on the soundstage are looking? They are almost black and white now.
