My local zoo installs nets like that for the birds exhibits. It helps the birds get used to the habitat for a few weeks so they don't fly out. I hope that's what they are doing now because those nets are really, really bad. Way worse than the ones my zoo uses.

The nets were on the rock work, and yes, they were there opening day. There were no nets over the water areas though. Are there nets on the water areas now? The pics just look like the ones I saw when I was there (I only went on opening day and haven't had the desire to do it again)

The nets are nothing new. Those nets(even the ones by the water) were there when I first saw the exhibit on May 11th while having to wear a hard hat. They were removed just before opening day. I'm sure they will be removed in another few weeks. SeaWorld just wants to give the penguins more time to acclimate to their new habitat.

Were they there on media day as well? I seriously do not remember these nets being there.

It's a win win!

Now if we're talking buying a ticket for Manta and Kraken....I'd think about it!

Or go bigger and better, and do it right! Take advantage of the technology they got in their hands with those RVs.

Does anyone know if Sea World still is opening early this week? I was hoping to get in before 9 on Friday to check out Antarctica for myself before I head to Universal for <fingers crossed> a few spins on Transformers.

I think they always open an hour early, just for partner hotel guests. But I don't know how strict they are with checking that you're actually a partner hotel guest

You know what is sad? This thread was more active when talking about Publix :)

How many people are now planning on not going to Sea World? I think I will still try to reserve my spot, but if I can't get a spot on a day I can go, then I will be waiting until after summer to see this. Hopefully then the nets will be down.

Unless I get lucky one day I'll probably be waiting until after the summer crowds to ride this. I'll still be at the park often for the dolphins, Kraken, and Manta, though.

I have an AP for Sea World (includes BGT and waterparks) and was going before this ride and will still be going even after. I do enjoy the park and it has grown on me in part because im a big coaster fan and love Kraken and Manta, so for those 2 rides alone its worth the occasional visit.

Same. Only reason I was even considering going back was for this.

Now I have no real interest.

I'll be there tomorrow morning to check this out for the first time. Haven't seen any videos so I'm a total Antarctica virgin. I'll let you guys know what I think.

There's just not enough vacation time for a non-local or non-Brit to waste on SeaWorld, especially at their price point.

Exactly. I haven't been in a few years, the last time I went to town for 2 weeks. I thought this might force me back, but now I'm in no hurry.
