So the plan is to go to Disney on the 24th.

I only have two things on my list: World of Color and Soarin. Maybe Fantasmic.

Any other suggestions?

LOL, yeah, don't go.

I made the mistake of going to the parks the day before Christmas a few years ago, it was the WORST experience at a Disney park I have ever had. Disneyland was wall to wall people. Everything in  the park had at least a 30+ min wait.

If you plan on seeing the Holiday version of World of Color, make sure you get to DCA at opening and get a Fastpass right away. It will sell out quick due to the crowd levels.

Also, take full advantage of Fastpass!  You can get more than one FP during the day. You can hold a FP for an attraction for DCA and Disneyland simultaneously.  There are a few attractions at the Resort that are disconnected from the FP network in their respected parks. This means the attractions that are disconnected do not talk to the other FP attractions, thus you are not restricted from immediately going and getting another FP for another attraction after you received an FP at a disconnected attraction. Another tip, ALWAYS read your FP ticket to see when you can receive another FP.

Disconnected FP Attractions

DCA:

Radiator Springs Racers

World of Color

California Screamin

Disneyland:

Rodger Rabbits Cartoon Spin

If you are good, you could hold an FP for the following all at the same time:

Radiator Springs Racers

World of Color

California Screamin

And one of the following: Soarin, Grizzly River Run, Goofys Sky School, and Tower of Terror.

And any Disneyland attraction.

And don't forget the Single Rider lines at:

Indiana Jones

Matterhorn

Splash Mountain

Radiator Springs Racers

Soarin

Goofy's Sky School

California Screamin

Grizzly River Run

Roger Rabbit Cartoon Spin and California Screamin' are no longer disconnected FP attractions. Only World of Color and Radiator Springs Racers are disconnected (as well as Disneyland and DCA being on separate networks). So that doesn't work anymore. Good advice still.

Also, Jon, I agree, if I were you, id hold off the trip to Disneyland Resort until after Christmas. Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are one of the busiest and most hectic days to visit. They're literally AT capacity almost every year and the park is a sardine can and if you dont get there on time, they wont even allow you inside the park and just.....not fun. Trust us. Visit after the 25th if you can.

You're kidding me!!!!! Great news then! Everywhere online it says it's been connected, and when I was there recently it was indeed connected. Maybe CA Screamin and Roger are turned on and off depending on crowds...? Either way, good to hear that it's not connected anymore! Would've been nice if it was that way when I was just there recently haha.

Definitely try to see Fantasmic since you've never seen it. It's spectacular.

It's gonna be a nightmare crowd wise but if you can, try to do some rides you haven't done before (besides Splash Mountain for now). Have you done all the rides with holiday overlays before?

I don't remember, to be honest. It's been two years since my last Christmas visit. Heh.

Yeah. Not sure if it's worth another ride.

Ryan - thanks for the helpful advice! I'll try to keep that in mind. I'll be going with Jonathan, so I'm sure he's also able to steer me in the right direction if I miss something.

Appreciate the feedback all. I'll try to follow it once I'm there.

Hey guys I'm planning to go to California Adventure on Saturday and Disneyland on Sunday, and I need a strategy on being able to do the following attractions.

Star Tours

Indy

Small World

POTC

Haunted Mansion

Space Mountain

Peter Pan

Tower of Terror

Big Thunder

Buzz Lightyear

World of Color

Fantasmic

I'm planning to do Cars land (RSR) first, followed by Soarin' then Toy Story at DCA, and I'm planning on doing Matterhorn first at Disneyland.

California Adventure:

Make sure you pick up a fastpass for World of Color early in the day to get a good viewing area. The fastpass is located near Grizzly River Run.

Disneyland:

  1. Big Thunder and Small World will be closed during your visit!
  2. Peter Pan loads slow. You might want to hit that early.
  3. You should get a fastpass for Space Mountain and then hit Star Tours and Buzz while you are waiting for your return time.
  4. Pirates and Haunted Mansion are people eaters and are some of the better options during the busiest part of the day.
  5. If you are walking by Indy and it is open, you might want to take advantage of the opportunity. The ride has been braking down a lot lately. You don't want postpone riding it till later, and then find it closed when you come back!

Thanks Red Carpet. I didn't know Big Thunder and Small World were closed, I guess that shortens my list.

I would recommend to get a Fast Pass for Indiana Jones first. I think it's the most popular attraction there and if it does break down they honor the fast pass if it reopens later in the day and those fast passes run out fast. Hit Matterhorn early too since it does not have a fast pass. Also follow the advise of getting the fast pass for Space Mountain and go to Star Tours while you wait. If you see short wait times for Space Mountain go for it

Space and Indy are the 2 biggest - get FP for both ASAP as they do run out early in the day. Go to the 2nd Fantasmic! if you plan on seeing it, NOT the first. (If there's 2 shows of course).

And as long as you're in line for an attraction by closing time, you're guaranteed to ride it. So if you save one for the end and can hustle over, that can help too.

Definitely try to get there at opening, and you'll most likely be able to do everything more than once!

Remember, you can get a fast pass for Radiator Springs Racers AND another California Adventure ride at the same time, as RSR is not connected to the main FastPass system. Also, Disneyland and DCA are on different systems, so if you're gonna be park hopping all day, you can get a fast pass simultaneously at both parks.

Also, keep your eye on the refurb schedule. A LOT of refurbishments going on until around the start of summer. Most up to date list is on the interactive map on the Disney site.

Key is to get there early and you'll be fine!

If you want a good spot for World of Color, get there at least 30 minutes before your listed time frame.

I've learned the hard way that this is the only way to catch the show from the very front.

During my trip to DCA I heard the main theme from Dragonheart in the border area of Condor Flats and Grizzly Peak.

Just wondering has anyone else heard it? and how is it possible? I mean Dragonheart is a Universal Film.

I think I know the track you're talking about.

I don't think it's particularly unusual. These companies cross-license content all the time.
