CNN just aired a piece on the new tracking wristbands @ WDW. They mentioned the positives and also talked about the 'creep' factor of guests being tracked.

I found this article interesting. Perhaps if they hadn't spend $1B on this they wouldn't need to look for cost savings overall. And, my other suggestion for cost savings is upper management salaries.

$1.5 billion and climbing quickly to $2.0 billion. No longer $1 billion.

agreed, and I don't think the idea of planning out so much of a vacation will sell a lot of out of towners on coming to disney over going somewhere else. Seems kinda pointless with this being one of the main places to be already.

It'll be interesting to see how Fastpass+ is regulated. Could passholders just have Fastpasses lined up into perpetuity, or do you have to add it to your "vacation"? Or will they start charging $10 for no-shows?

 I was just thinking about this!!! Theoretically couldn't I plan a ride on all the major rides every day of the week? I'm sure it will be regulated, but it will definitely be interesting to see how it's regulated.

As much as I don't want anyone to lose their jobs Disney needs to trim the fat in certain management divisions.

They really do need to take the :saw: to a lot of the theme park and studio operations. Not just for cost cutting, but for the sake of change.

I know a big stink about this tracking stuff and minors but I just had a though. If said minor is with his or her parents and they sign consent then its fine and dandy but how is this going to work if that kid so happens to on a field trip to Disney,do they sign over consent to the school? Im sure there are parents out there who wont be too happy that their kids are being tracked while they aren't around.

Why would anyone want to track a huge group of teenage cheerleaders when their parents aren't around. I am sure that all 60,000 highly paid Disney employees, that have access to that info, are up standing individuals.

They shouldn't but if those kids want Fastpass + then what choice do they have? And are the schools really going to ahead and make reservations for the kids ahead of time for each ride? Either Disney will be giving them still paper tickets or just preloading FP+ on theirs tickets i would guess.

Which is exactly why this NextGen program is a disaster. I hope and pray this fails.

I spent the day at epcot, studios and MK. Their app hardly ever worked, the wifi was spotty at best. I even went into guest relations at MK to ask when passholders might get the wristbands. She was like "What wristbands?" When I pressed her for an answer, she said they were messin' around and trying things out.

So doing my normal day job, I was talking to someone who was planning a cruise. He didn't want to Disney this time around, but then threw out this little diddy...

"That new wristband stuff, the Magic+, I don't trust it. Too big brother for me."

I'm still trying to figure out why people are eating this up and loving it? Blind allegiance is a downfall.

Because people are sprinkling it with Disney's pixie dust laced information and NOT the real use of RFID and what Disney intends to do with it. And it amazes me that people are ok with strangers having access to their children simply because they are a Disney CM. If a stranger walked up to my kid in public and knew his/her name and just began questioning and talking to them about things they shouldn't know, I'd be on that mutha like white on rice. But hey, give Peter Pan all your kid's information. Yea, nothing bad can ever come of that.

this really does seem like this is far more Pro for Disney then consumers.

Plus there are a lot of security issues with this. If you arm band gets lost or stolen, what's going to stop someone from picking it up from the ground and going on a shopping spree? Breaking into your hotel room? Or worse...using your FAST PASS time!!!!!

The only real pro, is that it makes it very easy to spend more money.

I can also see that certain rides will become "unavailable" if everyone books the same Fast pass time. I would assume they would just need to limit the amount of reservations they can take per hour in order for this to actually work.

It will also turn the park into mobile phone zombies. Picture a park where everyone is constantly staring at their phones looking for their next scheudled ride..I mean I know that happens now, but it will be even worse once this passes.

I read that you can easily go and get them shut off if you do lose it to prevent that from happening. I have also heard conflicting reports about having to use a pin for any purchase or for $50 or more purchases.
