Teebs::shrug: We need some new fresh info. There's been no blockbuster news for at least 24 hours. :ack: We're starved for concepts being considered/built in the next four years. It's time for a Teebin Cavalcade of Future Blockbuster Attractions.

So, I began this thread with the above post. A few things have changed slightly, Wondersea is now going to be called Volcano Bay.

What was unknown then was Nintendo, Hulk redo, Hello Kitty. Less than grandly impressive. We also have the new JW film and the unknown of what that might portend...

Did I miss anything? I feel sure that I have.

You seriously don't think Nintendo is grandly impressive? Oh.

You're missing larger Marvel work, btw.

So a permit popped up yesterday for Project 557. Anybody know anything?

The permit pretty boldly says it's for a new utility building. I doubt it's anything to get excited about.

Yeah, that particular permit is for a new building to replace the small building they recently demolished across from Despicable Me. This new utility building will house several new hydraulic power units for the attraction.

Project 557 actually encompasses multiple projects under a single project number. It involves infrastructure upgrades at several attractions across the resort.

I regard it as grand as The Simpsons. How is that?

LOL, and I was the one screaming infrastructure upgrades coming 4 months ago or more. How pedestrian...

Awesome. Thanks. Yeah I knew that building near DM got knocked down, but I didn't put two and two together with this. Good to see that they are working on upgrading the infrastructure around the park.

Hey guys I stayed up all last night and read though this entire forum in awe. Much like all of you, I too am a very dedicated Universal fan. I am posting in hope to receive some advice. I am a college sophomore planning to major in architecture and set design. After I finish college the dream is to move to Florida and work for Universal. I know it seems far fetched but could any of you offer me some advice regarding my choice of study and what I should do. I plan to intern with Universal but I hear that is all very competitive. I have such a passion for these parks and I would love nothing more than to be part of the wonderful work produced by Universal creative.:wave:

Check out SCAD themed design program, join the TEA student program, and check out the UC jobs page (I can't find it, hopefully some nice soul will help and post it here.) I think the big advice I have is don't just set your eyes on UC; just like those who just want to do WDI at any cost people tend to become insular. Look at other jobs in the industry.

What is your passion? There's a lot of options from concept design, mechanical and industrial engineering, set design, show lighting, construction, and more.

An architectural engineering degree and artistic pursuits will find you in-like-flynn. I swear that almost any engineering degree will pop you to the front of the line. Well, chemical engineering, probably not, but you get the idea. Welcome and have fun!

So very true... most of the folks creating almost every attraction at Uni are external specialist companies.

My passion would have to be anything universal. As broad as it sounds it is true lol. I've filled sketchbooks over the years with designs and concepts that I would love to show universal. I want to just be part of the company and help in any way I possibly can. I have a genuine love for the work that is done. That being said I would love to be part of concept design as well as then being able to take the concepts and bring them to life. I would dedicate all of the time that I possibly could to universal including side work for events like Hhn. To me it wouldn't be work because it's what I love. I appreciate all your answers guys, they really help.

I would say whatever project Universal has in mind to replace Wet 'n Wild, probably a new resort. And weren't there rumors of adding another tower to Cabana Bay that directly faces Volcano Bay? And a rumor of a Mummy upgrade/refresh? And Star Trek, maybe (I think that has been reduced to wishful thinking on my part by this point, haha)? And there is certainly SOMETHING in mind for Jurassic World, even if it may not end up being a major new attraction.

I don't know if anyone else has shared this earlier, but the project number for Allah is Project 322.

For some reason, I didn't know or recall this. Thanks!

So here is my current list for those who may not have known these:

PROJECT NUMBERS AND DESCRIPTION
322 - Garden of Alah
340 - Kong
402 - Royal Pacific Convention expansion
533 - Water Park
557 - Utility Bldg and other infrastructure.
727 - Fallon Flight Sim/Twister
611 - Hulk rebuild
620 - Fast & Furious/Disaster - Orlando?
862 - Nascar Grill replacement
A&D - JP Show

(yes, I actually keep a list or otherwise be lost in a sea of numbers)
(edited 611 as it contained old assumptions. all fixed)

Here's some pie-in-the-sky that I just thought of.
  1. Once the Sapphire Falls garage is ready, Universal asks employees to park there and provides a small shuttle to the park.
  2. Universal builds another employee garage that can handle all of the vehicles west of USF.
  3. Universal uses the remaining land for the F&F attraction.
Unlikely, but possible.

So the Sapphire Falls garage is ridiculously large for a hotel, just passed by it on the I4 off ramp to Universal. I can definitely see it being the garage for the water park now. Maybe a tram will shuttle from the park to the garage or they will build a new walkway to the park property.

Or maybe the combination of hotel and convention center?

From what I've heard, all off-site guest parking for Volcano Bay will take place on the first level of the south parking garage. Expect to see that level completely re-striped for added capacity. New toll booths will be added to both toll plazas, and the lanes will be slightly re-configured to accommodate the additional influx of vehicles. A new bus pick-up/drop-off area will be added on the backside of the first level of the south garage (the side facing Kirkman Rd.). New bus-only lanes will also be added, running along the perimeter of Universal's property from the south garage's new pick-up/drop off area to what's currently a retention pond on the south end of the Sapphire Falls plot. This retention pond will be re-purposed into the main bus drop off/pick-up area for Volcano Bay, with buses from the south garage as well as the on-site resorts dropping people off here. Access to the park from here will be via a tunnel/walkway that will run beneath the I4/Adventure Way ramps. Cabana Bay guests will have it easiest, being able to walk directly to the park from their resort.

Of course, all this could have changed over the last several months, but this was part of the plan at one point. No matter what though, you can expect some pretty major transportation improvements to start happening around the resort in the near future.

Also, look for Project 799 to start somewhat soon... the new Cabana Bay towers.
