So has anyone else noticed that the website is WAY behind this year? I feel like I must be crazy, but I'm sure that by this point last year we had SOMETHING!

I believe a little later than this time last year we got the teaser page with "Darkness approaches" and that was all we had as a little blurb and the rotating images of past years as the archive drawers were open up once again. I would expect something similar as the 'teaser' any day now or by early June.

It's not the website, it's the fact that Universal is almost air-tight about leaking out any information about this year's event v.i.a the Potter Law.

I think early June...and now I know how Universal thinks a little bit more, I suspect the teasers will be a small thing at leads to the main event.

Not really. Last year we got the basic page where you could buy tickets and it had the drawers of the past in June and we got hardly anything over the summer. For the most part that event was kept very hush hush. I honestly have no clue if they'll be taking the same route this year but I can not think of a single time we ever got a website update in May and I've been following the site updates since 2007. I think the earliest we've ever gotten one was in 2007 about the 1st or 2nd week of June.

Edit: I see Splatter just said a lot of the same stuff I said. But to reiterate.

Hi Everybody!

I just spent the last half hr reading 3/4 of this thread and you guys and gals are doing pretty good speculation even though we really dont know anything about this yr (yet).

This is my speculation.. None of this is facts nor rumors.

So as many people said I really feel like this yr will be a gaming year.. What have most fanboys/fangirls have wanted for the last few years? Video game base houses or event. If you go back you'll see most of you want a RE, Silent Hill, Dead Space, ect.. houses/SZ. Well what if they actually listen but with a twist.

We all know A&D doesnt like to buy rights to certain properties so we wont see any video game houses base on popular stuff BUT that doesnt mean they can do a game base event.. Not just on video games.

Since you have to be 21 to play at the casinos, let alone gamble they could almost do a event on games... HHN XXI: "Let the Games Begin" could be a perfect slogan.. Each house could be based on a game of some sorts from the past to the present.

Hell with the success of Pirates I could see them doing a pirates based house and pirates loved to play games.

Heck in closing they could make a house based on a video game but maybe a storyline they created for a made up game.

There is my random two cents :)

I always thought HOS would be the first to do a Pirate house, because of all the Pirate events in Tampa. Surprised no one ever has done one though.

If anyone remembers. Back in the HHN:20 speculation, we said something about a HHN bringing maybe a gaming year with Halo, Left for Dead, Gears of War, and Dead Space as some haunted houses. Plus, the icon would be The Nerd.

An old pirate ship/ pirates lair type house would be epic! I could just imagine A&D pulling that off in a soundstage.

Heard the Las Vegas themed house on HNN and over there people think that Universal probably sees themselves above that because Knott's has done it. Which I'm not sure if that is remotely true HOWEVER if they do see themselves about that a Pirates house WOULD NOT happen simply because Cedar Point has done that.

If that was the case they wouldn't have done a Mexican Day of the Dead scarezone the year after HOS...

Touche. That was a major point of the dialog though was that Uni might see themselves above other haunts. Alas, I was reiterating.

Granted Knotts has done a Casino based house but then again haunts always talks to other haunts. There is only so much you can do in the haunt industry and A&D knows that.

Lets look at Catacombs for instance, HOS in Williamsberg did it a few yrs ago and now UO did it last yr.

Hell look at SAW, we wasnt the only one who had the rights that yr. Fright Dome in Las Vegas had it to and I think still does.

As I said I'm just speculating and wishing at the same time.. I would love to have a pirates theme house and I think A&D could pull it off very well.

As for the casino theme house? It could maybe work, hell they can make it a hotel setting to. Hotel Hell back in the 90s was awesome. We already walked thru a Butchershop, Orphanage, a couple bars, and movie theater lobby. So I can see them doing a casino.

I agreee there are only so many senarios that could be done, it just becomes a matter of well they are implimented.
A lot of HHNers have no idea whats out there, so I doubt any of the "it's been done before" mentality factors into their thinking. They are throwing around ideas for years and it's just a matter of whats works the best for them any given year, they have a file cabinet somewhere that most would kill to get a look in.

I'm not too sure how Horror Nights is going to progress in the future. Sweet 16 was "blah" and Carnival of Carnage was the most terribly executed Horror Nights ever. I don't even want to get started with that years event. Promising everyone that the entire park will be a scarezone, when in reality you were lucky to see 30 or 40 scareactors around the entire park (and even that number seems like a stretch). The ambiance of that year was craptastic. 18 finally stepped it back up, 19 was pretty good itself (with an incredible icon house), and 20 (in my opinion) took a step backwards. 20 was poorly excuted as well. Sounded amazing on paper, but just wasn't done like it should have been considering it was the 20th anniversary.

I don't have a hating bone in my body, but hhn 20 blew me and a lot of people away. I haven't heard a solid review where someone said they didn't like it
