Actually, I don't like the idea of Kong already being on the Empire State building outside, there's already talk (although sounds like it won't happen) of a dragon atop Gringott's bank...and we're dealing with another character that should be moving to be realistic.

I thought it was confirmed no dragon on top of Gringotts, just maybe a head poppin up once in a while? And a Kong AA or static figure that's 30-35 FT tall... dangling on a mini Empire State Building? Much more of a weenie than the brick studio facade of Disaster!

If I had to guess, I would say that there will be 2 really long screens, and 3D will be included.

I will put money on the Kong 360 tech being used in this attraction.

It sounds like it will combine the screens of Kong 360 with the sets and AAs of Kongfrontation... it will probably be much more physical than recent attractions

IMO that's what it would be too. Physical effects with a 3-D Kong.

I could see some KUKA arms too to stimulate Kong shaking the car... either way, I think this will be USF's least 3D E ticket since Rockit

I'd be cool with some screens as long as there are AA's too.

I don't think there's a chance you're going to see a giant AA.

FJ is evidence that a Kong AA isn't totally improbable

If they build a large dragon AA for Gringotts (that's what is happening right?) I don't see why they couldn't build a Kong AA.

Possibly, but even that AA will most likely only be for a scene and not the crux of the entire ride.

All I know is Universal decided not to build Optimus and Megatron AAs for Transformers because they were not confident they'd be able to keep them running.

That could be more due to it being a screen based ride - it's Spidey 2.0

I could see a Kong AA at some point - maybe not the whole ride, but definitely for a scene or two

I have to agree with Skip. It's not improbable, but it's most certainly impractical. Even when you try, look at the Yeti. Then all the problems Tiffany and Potato Head often have. We'd be lucky for one scene with a really good AA, and I'd say we're more likely to get fleeting glimpses of simpler figures. But I'd be floored if we get more than one good AA.

They did it with Kongfrontation why couldn't they do it again?

Im hoping we get one big guy like the old ride had, or even just a bust of him like he broke thru a bridge trying to grab us or something.

The original plans called for AAs, though. They realized they weren't financially and reliably viable, so ditched the idea.

Because like the Yeti showed, building something that big to move in a reasonably realistic way is a maintenance nightmare. I could see him MAYBE being an AA when he's chained up (if that's a scene), but I don't see him being one as he's rampaging.

Yeah, I didn't mean have him running around but something with some slight movement like the old one had would be great. Although I would love to know if the old had maintenance issues or may problems.

Excuse me for being realistic Mike

But if we follow this line of thinking: This project sprung from the costs of a Disaster refurb. I don't think we should be expecting a mega Potter-level budget unless told otherwise. --> The core idea seems to be a more practical version of Kong 360. Not a recreation of the original ride. --> Like Skip said, despite being planned, we couldn't get a single TF AA. And if anything screams AA, is a giant freaking robot. --> As much as Universal has been spending, it's always been with the idea of maximizing returns in the future. 360 proved popular, and TF succeeded without AAs. So there's no financial leg to stand on when they ask for the huge budget increase necessary.

They were a nightmare. It was one of the main reasons it was replaced

But do we really know what type of budget they are working with? And what about HTF's remarks about meeting him flesh to flesh, they going to use a Kong plush and strobe lights on the ride? :pound:

I know the Kongfrontation AA had issues, but it has been about 20 years since it opened, you'd think they would have some better AA technology by now, but I know nothing about these kind of things.

Back then, they also thought we'd have hoverboards by about now

It's not that it can't be done. It can. It's not just feasible to make a large, realistic, moving figure that operates 12 hours a day, 365 days a year. From a maintenance standpoint it's not sustainable due to the amount of stress felt by the components.

Worse case scenario is it would just be Kong 360 with some minor additions. Which if you think about it it's already an upgrade to Disaster. Even if it would be the 6th 3D ride in Universal Studios(which is kind of annoying) but I also feel like as long as it has AA's like Gringotts is supposed to have, I will be really happy. There's no reason not to believe HTF and not to suggest it will indeed be part classic Kong and part 360 Kong. Also it's not like the park is swarmed with sit down 3D shows. I mean you have T2, Shrek, and Despicable Me, but they also have really neat additions to the ride itself so your not just sitting and watching a screen. And as far as Transformers, Gringotts, and King Kong they are and will be way more than a 3D ride as we know. But another thing I was thinking of is I would really love to see Shrek replaced by a Horror/Monsters ride with the same concept but more on a T2 show level. That could really be a popular attraction.
