Hehe, I was there today! More dirt, but a foundation laid out just like in the rumored building layout. BTW, it was a perfect day too, everything outside Gringotts was under 30 minutes.

Yep rumored to open in 2016. Although I personally think it could be early 2016 to late 2015 if they hire enough construction workers (diagon alley team) to it but take my prediction as you would a grain of salt

Unless something else is in store in 2015, I almost expect this thing to open around thanksgiving-Christmas time next year. It's possible, especially if they really get moving on it after the foundation is complete.
They need some new attraction for next year after all!

Based on the slow pace of construction for this attraction, it's looking like a summer 2016 opening to me. There is NO rush on this project like they did with some of the other projects they've done. They've been moving dirt and pouring foundations for months now. Something else will come for 2015...likely something small or a series of small projects before rolling out the big guns (Kong) in 2016 again. However, that's my own speculation based on what I'm seeing/reading on here and several other sites. I have zero insider knowledge.

As for the Kong running rumor, yeah, I'm with Disneyhead on that one and I'll believe it when I see it. There are ways to fake having Kong "run," but an actual RUNNING animatronic? No way. At least, not one that *RELIABLY* runs 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.

I basically agree with you. Universal should be in no hurry to open it. They have a lot of marketing they can do with Diagon Alley, Gringott's & Hogwart's Express. Rushing Kong will not increase attendance next year, but it will probably help come 2016. Maybe the museum and updated lagoon shows for the anniversary. Take their time on Kong & make sure it runs decent when it opens. This is an attraction that I'm really looking forward to, as I've said before.

Tom Hiddleston to Star in King Kong Origin Film Skull Island

Legendary picks Jordan Vogt-Roberts to direct the movie.

Thor and Avengers actor Tom Hiddleston -- yes, Loki himself -- will star in Legendary Entertainment's film Skull Island. The film will reportedly be an origin story for King Kong.

Hiddleston will headline Skull Island for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer), according to Variety. Original reports stated that Legendary was eyeing Attack the Block filmmaker Joe Cornish for the gig, but the trade says the studio moved on because he was busy with Section Six.
