I agree with Cole. The older screen attractions actually take quite a hit when compared to newer ones. Since most americans watch TV/Movies on a regular baisis, our eyes are pretty much trained to spot "bad, or old" CG work. AAs age differently because they are phsyically apart of the ride, and automatically require our imagination. We know they aren't real, so we don't expect them to look real. It doesn't really matter how advanced these figures are, when the ride uses the same AA techniques throughout.
As where screen attractions we are typically looking at real actors, or characters that are supposed to appear "real".
One of my critcisms of the redo of Haunted Mansion or Pirates, is that new effects, like say Hatbox Ghost, appear too advanced for their surroundings. In this particular case it's the new effects that seem out of place to me, but that's mainly because of nostaliga.
Rides like Peter pan work still because they haven't been changed...and I hope they never do.
