There was also very little things lit up at 8:30 after the preview. Are they waiting on that?

Been told that won't be operating during previews.

Posted upstream a few photos but the lab in the FOP has new props and had some restaging. Audio was changed in some parts, and lighting in the exit hallways now cycles to imply the direction to walk down the stairs.

More audio overall, but no sign of area music yet.

There was a lot more music in the area than I was expecting actually. There is background music in the River Journey queue, Windtraders, Pongu Pongu courtyard, and inside the Satu'li Canteen dining room. The places still without music are Mo'ara and FoP queue, but center of Mo'ara does have drum circle that when busy is always being beaten. You can hear all the background musics in the video I posted to the reviews and photo thread.

Originally FOP had no audio in the queue so it has been slowly coming to life.

The sound of a low hum energy field looping while waiting on the final ramp for 20 to 40 minutes is not good enough to keep you from going insane though. Whooooooom whoooom whoooooom whoooom whoooooooom whoooom whooooooom...

It's going to be interesting to see/hear the final theme. It's such a clash of ideas. You basically made a land out of ET's home planet, but put the Transformers queue in it. I get why, it is a scientific expedition. But it is a bit odd to have this talk of a sacred ritual, and preserving the environment in such a sterile and militaristic looking pre-ride area.

True true. Maybe if they fix whatever is slowing down the loading procedures we won't be standing on that ramp for 40 minutes normally.

Len Testa says the second half of the first pre-show is different depending on which room you're in (or may just be randomized.) That may explain the part where he says "oh, hang on" and goes away for a minute and comes back in the preshow. It's loading the randomized next segment.

Little things like that make the whole Pandora experience great for visiting multiple times, and that terrible pre-show (somewhat) more re-watchable.

He says "oh hold on..." if the ride hasn't loaded and begun by a certain point. In the second preshow the CMs essentially stall as it is timed to the ride, but the first loads as soon as the doors between rooms open. So it has various options to cover the time as needed - the please hold is for when there's an extended delay.

It's not random, but programming depending on how long load is taking.

There's a short version that plays for when it begins after the ride has started - because it won't start fully until the rear door is closed.

Nice. That explains why the preshow seemed longer than it should've been. I figured the please wait thing was for time stretch to match how long until the ride was ready for us. Didn't realize the next part after could be different depending on how much time they need to kill. Smart on their part.

But I still do not like that guy's line delivery. Sounds like he's forgetting his lines, rather than talking off the cuff.

I think it's funny that the part that gets cut from the pre-show are the comparisons to the real conservation efforts on Earth.

I didn't get the please hang on thing during my preview. I may have cheered if that guy left the screen. Oof.

My preview slot is Thursday 6-8 so what time should I aim to get in line by? Is there a risk of not getting to do FoP if you are too far back in line?

They'll let you in at 5, so be there for that. You should queue up at least 30 minutes to an hour beforehand. They give out Flight of Passage entry tickets in intervals, so aim to be one of the first groups there.

I had 6 to 8 today. I got in the queue around 4:30 and was one of the first 15 in line. Keep in mind this is a Tuesday and Thursday could see more crowds.

Nevertheless, they let us in at 5pm and the first set of FOP Fastpasses was for 5:30 to 5:45. Perfect to quickly tour the world and then queue up for the ride.

Being the last slot of the day is there a chance for retires on fop if everyone gets though or will they just close it and force us out at 8?

Note: You can go through FOP's standby line and then just show your FP (and give it to them) at the merge point where they kick the standby non-FP folks out of the building.

So you get the full experience - there's very little that's different in the fastpass line that you wont see in standby, but a lot you'll miss only doing FP.

I'd recommend a listen to today's Disney Dish with Jim Hill to hear Jim and Len's thoughts on the land.

Or, instead of listening to Jim Hill you could use angry hornets as q-tips.
