More from today - a 360 tour of the queue.

Comment at the end, and of course from Theater C (c3 this time) - "I wasnt expecting the whole wall to tear away." "The thing in front of you is like a garage door and the wall behind you completely separates."

And they compared it to Soarin meets BTTF.

You'll be better off seeing it in October. The initial crowds will have tapered off and they will have (hopefully) worked out the bugs. The overheating ride mechanisms will kill capacity until that gets worked out.

I didn't realize Flight of Passage is going to have a single rider line!!! This is only the fourth in all of a Disney World!

Agreed, in this type of situation it's better visiting when everything is operating at full capacity and not partially. Myself I'd rather ride FoP when all the theaters are up and running as intended, and not a case where only one theater is doing the main unique element of the whole attraction.

I'm really confused where the single rider line goes.

From everything I can tell, it's the same line as FP. They merge immediately after the entrance point.

Did we ever get confirmation that Theatre A was truly malfunctioning? From what I've read, it seems as though people just have different ideas of what constitutes a ToT style drop, with some thinking of your seat dropping straight down from underneath you (which I believe it was determined FoP does not do), with others thinking of the smooth diving and swooping that involves the floor/seats lowering as riders are tilted forward. I'm not sure that the references to ToT's small drops were anything more than a loose comparison to help describe the experience to those of us who haven't ridden yet.

Overheard someone describing the ride to someone else today - she used to same sensation for comparison that I have, the little drops during the screen portions of FJ.

Per the interwebz, 10' (the height of the room) is the full drop length used in FOP.

And just to clarify.. it's not that you have the ride start, the banshee jumps and you drop and then the system slowly moves you back up in place.

It is constantly zooming up and down various heights at high speed. Like fall 8ft, rise 4ft, drop 2ft, raise 5ft, etc... to match the screen movement.

When your banshee is banking upward it's rapidly going up so you're pushed down into your seat. If it's falling or diving, the room is dropping so you get feels in the tummies.

I'm convinced at this point that some people are immune to those sorts of sensations. The people who don't feel an elevator moving or notice turbulence in an airplane.

As far as overheating and such - don't know, but with the speed at which it moves 6 large guest filled rooms at once it seems plausible.

The way you're stuck on this one particular feature of the ride and how you're making it sound so influential to one's enjoyment of the ride is giving me crazy anxiety about my eventual first experience. What if I don't get Theater C?!

Yeah, that makes me feel as though the ride experience isn't any worse in A, just a misunderstanding based on what people have been comparing the ride to. I'm not too concerned about the breakdowns; Gringotts was having a hard time staying open during previews, too.

I don't think you have much to worry about. Most simulator attractions affect everyone differently; gentle tilting sensations to some register as heavily banked, nausea-inducing curves to others. I really think Flight of Passage is the same way, not because of the theaters, but because of the differences between the perception of guests.

I was most definitely not in theater C and definitely felt all of these effects / movements / sensations.

Nobody in 1989 remembered SONG OF THE SOUTH, either. That still produced an all-time great attraction.

I know the situations aren't one-to-one, but just a little Devil's Advocate!

This is a lie. Song of the South was rereleased several times including a rerelease in 1986.

So your argument would be it had more cultural cachet at that time than AVATAR does now?

I don't think either are/were particularly in the pop culture conversation.

Yeah, they usually have to be at least on the same playing field. ;)

I would say there was much more cultural awareness of Song of the South. Everyone at least knew Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah, even if they didn't know what the song was from. Disney often used it as an anthem of sorts. Splash Mountain was even almost named Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah River Run.

The access for AP previews is automatically added to your MyMagic+ and it looks like a FastPass. It's cool that all I have to do is tap my MagicBand to get into the area.
