From what I have been told, a few steel columns and bracing will have to be moved to accommodate the new design. The building is not being enlarged to my knowledge.

So I'd imagine that first preshow room is staying? It's kinda off the building, added when twister came. Then aunt Meg's house & main show room turned into the attraction, and gift shop stays in the same spot?

I have only been in the twister building once, and that was 10-15 years ago. I recall none of it or where things are.

Yeah... I was told this but I also stated that they are "toying with the idea". It appears they are keeping the extended standby queue so they might be keeping their options open for a case in which the attraction is overwhelmed. Perhaps a lesson learned from Hogsmeade's first year. It sounds like a wise solution to me.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were toying with this idea for the whole park. For what it's worth, Wet N Wild is now testing out a slide reservation system (like a virtual queue) and Universal has most definitely a.) strongly considered using this at Volcano Bay and b.) given it their own unique name. If it's successful at the waterpark, why not roll it out into the parks?

It is the next step in the theme park world for sure..I like the idea of them trying it..

As far as merch I thing The Tonight Show brand is strong enough to have its own store...

At the same time I could see it being an NBC store in general with sections devoted to shows...think the old Nick store

Personally, I say lets NOT do that as all it does it make the queues for the other rides longer. Park wide with no real queues, forget it! But we can move that discussion here

The problem with the Disney way is that it is only for those that have FP+...If you don't, then the stand by queue is exaggerated

I understand that's a big deal for Comcast because they get OUR money, but I'm not so sure why we cheer for attractions/additions that have the sole purpose of making Comcast more money.

Because Comcast has shown a desire to fund a good deal of that money right back to the parks. That's why.

When that stops I'll start to worry.

Not just a desire, this is a damn mandate. The money they're about to sink into UOR over the next 5 years is mind-boggling.

I don't know if the renaming of a corporate building is something i'd consider "historic", but it's something. I mean, before this it was the "GE Building".

Eh, they can call it Peacock Citadel for all I care. It will always be 30 Rock.

What? That it's the first time the peacock will appear at the top of the building?

It's only the third time in the history of the historic rock center that the building's name has been changed. Also, it is a major part of the very famous NYC skyline. To quote Biden, "It's a big "f***ing deal" for both NBC and Comcast to have their names/logo up there.

Guess the new attraction won't be named "30 Rock".

You must know different New Yorkers than I do. The comments here at least don't seem to care, they just echo what most of us think: they can call it whatever they want, doesn't mean most people will acknowledge it. This article flat out hates it, though its Gothamist so...I don't know if that holds water, but they also acknowledge that the name of the building is not something that people care about.

Also, the only time I heard anyone make a stink about the colors of the ESB was when some charity wanted them to display their colors to raise awareness of the charity and the owners of the building refused. If you think most New Yorkers care about what they name buildings or what colors shine on the ESB, well, I dare say the stereotype is correct: we're far too busy to be concerned...unless it delays our commute.

But lets not derail this. So the facade will have a giant lighted Comcast/peacock logo. Great.

Am I the only one that's miffed that Comcast totally hijacked the storied NBC peacock and adopted it as their main corporate identity? It's like they deviously took a beloved logo that people associate with great laughs, entertainment, and news reporting.... and used it to soften the image of this corporate-bohemoth-megalord-i-want-to-cancel-my-cable-COMCAST. So slimy.
