There are a few things that come to mind.

Slingshot, DiveDevil, Jet Stream, Apocalypse, and the Go-Kart's are all getting reworked to fit the new area, leaving two new attractions (The Mack Launch), and hopefully the future flat.

That'd be a lot of space to bargain with, as there is a lot you can do with retheming that area to be something more..unified, shall we say the least.

I was just in the park today. See my twitter for a few pics (same name as I use here), but in short:

  • Both Revolution and Full Throttle are back to two train ops. (Ninja is still one train)
  • As Wesker already mentioned, there's new lockable shelving for Crazanity. Plus, ops request people sit next to each other leaving no empty seats (and surprisingly, it's mostly working)
  • New, larger exit sign at the metal detectors
  • TC happened to be down today
  • Single Rider is back on Drop of Doom... if you get someone who actually knows
To explain the latter, when I went DoD, I did notice there were no single rider signs out. I asked the nearby grouper is single rider was open. He said no, go through the main queue. I did (there was no wait, luckily). When I was actually on the ride, I asked the employee if there was single rider. She said yes. I told her the grouper told me no. She explained what I already knew, SR had been removed for the VR, but it should be back now. She said she'd inform the groupers.

So... there is SR... but apparently, not all the employees know it yet.

Also as I believe Wesker also said, when you see all the land that's been cleared, it's not really as large as you may imagine. I could see one, maybe two flat rides there if we're lucky, but not much more than that and maybe a store or two.

I thought @Chris Galindo already confirmed that we're getting an air flat to go along with the coaster. Though maybe plans have changed.

That was passed to me on one end, but the other is it was pushed aside. An air raced has been long rumored for that area, and I was told it would be installed with the new attraction. I believe now that we will only be getting one major attraction for the area in its refurbished year. I am hoping to be surprised however.

- Drop of Doom VR ended the 29th..... its now the 8th & the damn sign out front is still up! ...sigh.. Oh six flags..
- Actually it was Galindo that said it looked small, I was the reassurance that there is a lot more space back there than it "looks". IF the coaster is designed well with its layout, then yes its possible to fit more things within that stretch of space. (wish they'd get rid of the remaining midway games down there... ugh).

A side note about the area, I really absolutely HATE upcharge attractions like- go carts, sling shot, dive devil. Such wasted valuable space for real rides.... indoor rides, flat rides, INDOOR DINING.. ....anyway......

"SEWER OF SOULS" PORN!!!

Looked up info for Fright Fest and it says that they won't start the event until 10:30. You only have a two and a half time window to see all of the houses. That sucks.

I can imagine the only reason for them doing this is due to too many people who aren't haunt-savy complaining about the monsters coming before they have a chance to leave the park. At least have the mazes open at seven or something.

It's actually worse than that. Yes, on Friday and Saturday the park is open until 1:00 AM. But check this out. On Sunday, the park closes at 11:00 PM which means Fright Fest will only last for an hour and a half. Wtf?

This can only mean budget cuts to save for the 2019 project as Wesker previously mentioned.

Yeah, that's beyond lame. I feel bad for 99% of the people going expecting it to start at 7 just like every place else does. I can imagine guest relations being flooded with complaints.

I don't think those two new mazes are going to be all that great. I'm expecting a lot of reused props salvaged from Apocolypse's queue or from Vault 666. I'm going to hold off until next year.

Even better, they don't list all of their haunts this year. It's as if they don't want you to go. Haha

Great update as always my man.

I would kill for a Looney Tunes Dark Ride! Though I know it's never gonna happen.

So what do you foresee as the ace maze this year for Fright Fest?

I would love to see them build an area themed to old Hollywood where the Looney Tunes live and work kinda like a mix between Hollywood Land at DCA and Mickey's Toontown.. they could put a Looney Tunes dark ride there :)

I just totally misread the hours. I noticed that it's listed as 10:30 AM not PM.

Welp.....

Your expectations would not be accurate. Nothing has been pulled from the Apocalypse queue. And everyone seems to be very surprised by Vault's absence this year, but as far as I know, nothing has been recycled from it for the new Condemned maze. As far as "Sewer of Souls" is concerned, definitely not recycled. I talked to the people working on it (and briefly to people who recently checked on it), it will be "new". (still holding out hope for the vortex tunnel though)

There's a magical button called "view more" which expands each section.

So I got a survey I showed Alex the other day that asked my thoughts on a new area featuring 7 attractions. Cyclone Bay, as it is right now with the upcharges, has 5. Looks like we may see 2 new attractions after all next year. This is too big to be true or SF is finally delivering.

So I'm assuming the Mack Spinner rumor is dead and buried since this will be a launched coaster with a racing theme?
