This year is their centennial celebration and the announcement on wednesday is rumored to include centennial celebration plans for the parks and other things like DM and Spider-Man 4K. Check these threads for more info:

The announcement is to include both new shows for the Studios, the Spiderman and Despicable Me opening dates/details, and most likely the Hollywood Golf opening date. It's quite a lot to get open within the next couple of months.

Like Katniss trying to reach Prim. Too late.

As long as those Amity buildings stay up, then I'm o.k. :/

Still kinda sucks that they are doing something back there and we don't know why.

But we do know why.

Jaws is being demolished for a substantial expansion of the wildly successful Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Universal is cashing in on Phase 1's success and giving guests what they want: more. In due time, they'll announce this. There's no need to just yet. It's all but confirmed though.

Bye bye, Amity. We hardly knew ye....... (sorry Rock'nRoller)

That is a good thing though. As much as it is painful for a geek and fan as myself to see. It tells me they actually have plans to change and (hopefully bring in something awesome) to the entire area, not just closing the ride for primarily budget reasons. The sooner they get this stuff done the sooner we don't have boring walls of movie posters. (as much as I love them reconizing all the classics)

Yes its great that Uni is getting a head with plans rather then letting them sit there.

An example of a park that is doing it is Movieworld, Australia. They have two rides closed and nothing has been done for over a year but they keep saying that the ride has been closed to make way for an exciting new attraction. Also another park the company owns Sea World (not related to the US parks) has closed its signature attraction and has left it there for over 1 and a quarter years and just left there with ugly fences around it, yet you can still see inside at what used to be (yet they say closed to make way for a new attraction). Its the same as if Universal Studios Hollywood closed the studio tour and left it there with construction fences around it.

So its great to see that Universal Studios has got on with the work.

Well as of this afternoon the boat house is nothing more than a pile of rubble...

NO NO NO NO NOOOOOO!!!!!!! :'( I'm feeling mighty depressed right about now....photos?

At least Amity and Jaws is still alive via Google Earth. I'm in street view right now, taking a stroll through Amity. It's nice to pretend every now and then
