When people are queueing to enter Spongebob Storepants, I do not think a ride or mini land is unreasonable in the slightest

Technically, they're queueing to meet SpongeBob/Patrick/Squidward. That's why there's those switchback lines outside the store.

But yeah, the place does seem to be quite popular at the moment with people.

I would love scooby doo, spongebob, and Dora to headline a revamp kid zone. I'm a major scooby fan. What type of ride system could be used for scooby? Six flags owns the rights to scooby doo right? If I were them I would just take what universal is offering and help with their bankruptcy and upgrade their crappy safety issues. They don't have a park in Florida. I would love for both a seven dwarf coaster spongebob type of ride with the krabby patty mobile as carts and a trackless boating school ride its not like they won't make all the money back in a couple of years selling krabby patties and merchandise making 2 e tickets. Also a c or d ticket spongebob water ride. Dora replacing Barney would be simple and great.
Of course I would love for universal to move despicable me to the kid zone with a mini land and revamp production central but that's not happening.

Yeah I know we keep talking about Scooby, TMNT, SpongeBob, and Dora(especially me) but those seriously make the most sense for a new expansion. Even though I'm not a huge SpongeBob fan I do know it is massively popular with kids and adults alike. So that IP itself for sure seems like a lock to me. Dora you would think is a no brainer to replace Barney. That is if they want to keep the show concept in that building. And Scooby and TMNT have always been popular and never seem to go away in relevancy. There's no doubt I would love nothing more than to see a Scooby Doo and a TMNT dark ride or other major ride of some sort. Now what really intrigues me is if they are going to keep the play areas(Curious George/Fivel) concept around but just replace them with different IP's or build something else entirely(Like a dark ride or two in their places). Somebody should make a mock future Kid Zone expansion map on here, just for fun lol I would but I wouldn't know how to do any of that stuff.

Yeah but apparently not the gang, can't be a good scooby ride w/o the whole mystery incorporated!
Nobody knows what nick is doing who ever is in charge is an idiot. How do you end your most popular show (I Carly) then cancel your other one in victorious if they cancel spongebob it's over for a while. Spongebob is what is holding that network together right now. Nick right now is just spongebob and a bunch of kids bad acting and this is coming from a teen. Purposely not including nick jr 2 seperate networks to me. Didn't know the spongebob movie was pushed back just googled the date and February 13,2015 gives universal plenty of time for an e ticket shoot a mini land for them.
When I first rode the trolley I was scared too lol. I didn't expect that for a kids ride it was pretty high and had no doors. Universal needs to fix that 40" is insane for a ride in suess land.
Is there a rumored potter 3.0 geared toward families or just someone's idea?

Curious george could be rethemed to bikini bottom and fieval be torn down and turn into a small dark ride, spinner , or flat ride and a play area can be a part of a queue like dumbo.

Definitely won't see any disagreement from me there.

Nickelodeon is by far the most mismanaged kid's network out there right now. So much potential wasted with their whole brand.

Things like the Rugrats have great potential to become timeless if done right, but sadly the executives in the company aren't even going to make an effort. SpongeBob, too, can become timeless, but I have a bad feeling that once his show's over, they again aren't going to even attempt to keep him out there in mainstream culture. That's why I am skeptical over the idea of making a major dark ride out of SpongeBob. With the way Nickelodeon treats their shows, I just have this feeling it won't work long-term with Universal.

Also, in regards to an argument earlier ago in this thread, I don't really see SpongeBob as the mascot of Nickelodeon. Is he the biggest show at the channel right now? Yes. But at the moment, Nickelodeon has no mascot.

For a long time, I saw the orange shape-shifting splat logo they had as their mascot, as it represented the feel and purpose of the network. But in true stupidity, the executives did away with that logo in 2009.

First of all, Six Flags exited bankruptcy in 2010, less than a year after entering. That's a quick turnaround for a corporate bankruptcy and was meant more for debt reorganization than debt shedding. They dropped the majority of their licensing agreements, but kept WB and DC as their main IP licenses.

Secondly, what safety issues are you referring to? With the exception of the Texas Giant incident, they haven't had a major injury or death (that wasn't caused by pre-existing health conditions or guests not following safety protocols) since 2007.

I have to agree with others when they talk about staying away from Nick... I mean even Dora I question. Since I really don't see this being popular right now. My kid is right in the target age and I don't see any Dora stuff out there for her. I was looking around the other day trying to find it in Toys R Us and could not find it. I have not seen any Dora clothing at any of the places I have been at for a year now. If it was so popular I would be seeing the clothing and other merchandise out there. And I go to Toy R Us practically every other weekend (don't ask), so I would have to see this stuff in one of my trips. My friend's kid is 6 years old and Dora is too young for her. I guess it has been too young since she started Kindergarten last year. So it really is only for kids 2 to 5 yrs of age and I just don't agree with adding IPs that only focus on that young of kids. I personally say keep animal actors because that appeals to a larger age group and get rid of the show concept all together where the big purple dino is.

I've never had the incentive since I first visited USF in Spring 2005 to watch Animal Actors - it's a bland square arena, it doesn't really fit into any themed area (it's between Springfield and KidZone) but unlike MIB, the "experience" doesn't make up for the late 80s/early 90s exterior decor.

I want this AND Barney AND Fievel all bulldozed and replaced with more substantial attractions

I think the point Izzy was trying to make was that animals is a theme that will never get old. Since the last pages upon pages of this thread have been about discussing the lasting power of several IPs, it seems worth it to point out that Animal Actors wont ever be outdated with the proper refreshments every so often...the general idea of it wont ever get old. While Dora, Spongebob, My Little Pony, whatever, all may/will become outdated at some point, animals doing tricks will always appeal to people. The fact that it isnt tied to an IP is even better, as there would be no contracts to worry about or anything like that that have also been discussed.

Because of this...that the show has a broad enough appeal and is fun for children and even adults in the right mindset...Im a proponent of leaving Animal Actors. Wanna renovate the theater? Im all for it! But as for the actual show, besides a few minor tweaks I think its in Universal's, and its new family demographic's best interest to keep it. It has a very broad appeal.

That's a great point. Kids will never not be interested in animals. While eventually they won't care for those voiced by Chris Rock

Although it would be interesting to see Animal Actors' space utilized for something else, I won't complain if they keep it. AA has admittingly been a bit of a staple of the park since its opening, after all. I mainly just hope they re-theme the entrance area to make it look more visually appealing, since as I mentioned before it is currently the last remnant of the stale Expo Center theming.

As I've said before, they can keep Animal Actors but they have a few other places they could put the show...where Fear Factor Live is...where the Cartoon Theater is in IOA, or where Beetlejuice is (though its smaller)

Exactly! I'd be okay with an animal show concept just a brand new theater and possibly making room for more attractions behind. It needs color and a facade that says "Come watch me!" Next time, I go to Universal, I actually plan on doing this and Horror Makeup Show - the only things at USF I've never done (TF and the Springfield expansion weren't open in 2012) besides Fear Factor - but I have no desire to see that one!

I think SpongeBob would fit there since it's across from the store and KidZone Pizza will probably become the Krusty Krab. I would prefer Fievel, Barney, Nuthouse, and Curious George not be SpongeBob themed - and I want Comcast to increase the attraction count of KidZone by 2-3 rides/attractions (with at least one brand-new non-ET replacement dark ride)

I really like the idea where we just bulldoze Kidzone and DON'T build a TV show island. We are so much better off with movies that have a global appeal. Despicable Me and ET are prime examples. They aren't Kid's TV shows and they have an appeal to all age groups.

I agree that trying to make a "Kid's Zone" is a dated idea and one that needs to die. We can have less Children's properties and more family attractions. Let's hope that they steer away from Nick, Scooby, Dora, and all of the above. Things like Dora are exactly the things we DON'T need.
