I don't get what that has to do with me saying Universal probably wants to go with something both genders can enjoy.

Nickelodeon Universe has attendance from Boys, and Girls.. Most show's on Nickelodeon are meant to appeal to both genders.

Yeah, but Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles isn't one of them.

I'm telling you guys HTTYD won't be happening. Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love to see it too, but I've heard it from enough insiders that negotiations for it have failed.

If TMNT does end up coming, it sure as hell won't be the movie. Not targeted to a younger audience compared to the cartoon.

I've actually never seen it, I just know that everyone loved it and it was a success at the Box Office. Not to mention the upcoming sequels that are coming soon. But I'm DYING for a TMNT dark ride!

I'm getting to the point that I don't care about what properties come to Kidzone anymore.

I'd much rather focus on the plot of land behind MIB...though a Kidzone redo really should be next.

I have said it before and will say it again, I don't see Dora or Spongebob being in kidzone. Both properties are on the downward swing and this project is 2 years out. They need a property that is on the upward swing or at the top and nowhere near coming down.

And yes, this thread is going in circles, mainly because well, Universal has not even finalized plans

Im not sure what makes you think Spongebob is on the downward swing. Just looking at merch sales alone, Spongebob Storepants is one of the more succesful locations at the park. Its still used in advertising materials as well. Dora, yes. But I think a property like Spongebob has lasted long enough that its 1. proven its longevity/staying-power, and 2. become an accepted pop culture staple, even when the show does get cancelled. After a while, certain properties are accepted enough into public domain that they just dont disappear and become irrelevant.

Just from a ratings standpoint it is on a downward trend. Other people have posted the facts on here about the ratings. I agree it has been around forever and is similar to a Simpson type thing. But when it comes to a family attraction area you need a property that kids for the next couple generations will know and love. I question as to whether that can happen with Spongebob. I agree the generations that have grown up with it will spend money and love it, but not sure it is the right move for kidzone area.

One thing I really don't get about Dora is why are people here saying that it's gender neutral? Because, uh...it isn't. Looking at the merchandise for it at places like Toys r Us or even USF itself alone will tell you that it skews to preschool girls. There's a reason why they made the "Go Diego, Go!" spin-off. Therefore it really doesn't make much sense for people here to be saying yes to Dora but no to other gender-specific IPs like TMNT.

And really, I think people here are over-exaggerating the issue with the park adding more gender-specific properties. While sure it's probably best to focus mostly on gender neutral properties, that doesn't mean it has to be all that. As long as the gender-specific properties balance each other out I don't see much issue.

Macfr3ak mentioned Ice Age and Rio in the MIB/Simpsons plot of land thread, maybe they could be the rides happening?

Fox has plans for both of those franchises elsewhere, so I'd doubt it.

I think Dora's program (The Actual Show) is Gender Neutral personally I've never felt it was more toward one sex than the other. merchandise wise, wouldn't know.

I doubt Kidzone remains Kidzone. I think we see a dispersing of kid friendly attractions spread throughout the resort. That said Universal would be crazy not to bank on a spongebob area though.

Dora is gender neutral program wise, but merch wise it's all for girls. Same goes for HTTYD, but the merch goes to boys.

I just think it'd be funny if Uni opened its own Avatar Land before Disney did. Just based in the world of Aang and Korra.
