I thought it was hilarious! This is a fun forum and we are all theme park fans! We can joke around! There's no harm at all. It's good to lighten up every once in a while. And since no one has any clue what the actual plans are for a Kidzone revamp what else would we do on this thread?

Move on to another thread that does have things going on instead of wasting people's time coming in here for a pointless post. I have no issue with humor and I laugh at digs to Disney (and have given them), especially when it comes to the speed of them building things. But we have all seen the pixie sniffers and the dumb complaints they have about Universal. This comment ranks right up there with it on the opposite side. Because while you may not be interested in Princesses there is a LARGE population of people who are interested in this added meet and greet and other things they did with New Fantasy Land. It sucked they took so long, but the end product is a huge hit for the general population especially younger kids. And when they FINALLY get done with construction the mine coaster will look amazing in that area. Adding themed bathrooms made it so you stay in that fantasy world they created in fantasy land now. So when you dig on things like this, you just make yourself look like a Uni Fanboy and stoop down to the level of a pixie sniffer. It is the same thing as a pixie sniffer making fun of Uni for having screens everywhere or all the complaints they had about the Simpson area. Because the screened attractions are very popular and was a good choice for Uni and expanding Simpson's has been a huge moneymaker even if it did not add too much in the way of rides, so it was also a good choice for Uni. While adding decent meet and greets was a good choice for Disney, but honestly that type of area would never fit into Uni very well.

The difference is that Universal doesn't make fanfair for things like the Springfield expansion. It was a low-key addition that greatly enhanced a dead area of the park. New Fantasyland is merely bringing the land back to its capacity when 20K was still open or perhaps an extra 500-700 riders. A Tangled or Mary Poppins ride would have been a better choice than an entire building for princess M&Gs. Scary Adventures was just a better attraction than what's there

Subjectively better yes... But Anna and Elsa right now are generating 3 hour lines.

The people have spoken... whether we like it or not, Disney just gave what the general public wanted more.

You say this, but the general public doesn't see it this way, which is really all Disney or Universal cares about. Thinking we are special and our opinions matter more than others is just crazy and what makes people go too far in one direction when it comes to being a Uni Fanboy or a pixie sniffer. Neither park is perfect and we have to congratulate the other park when the end product is a success and fault our favorite park when it does something bad. Did Disney take way too long to do this project and cut corners? Yes. But the end product is really nice and the families who go to Disney love most everything about it, including that Princess M&G that you all hate. It was needed, since they lost their home with the Circus addition and meeting characters fulfill dreams. Just like Transformers M&G was needed for the fans of Transformers.

BTW, I have never been in the Princess M&G so I am not defending it because I like it. My daughter is too young, she likes the Mickey M&G and those types of characters. And I have never been a fan of M&Gs and only let her go to them when the lines are 5 minutes or less and didn't start until she was old enough to understand and knew the character she was meeting. She knows when she goes to the parks that M&Gs are a special surprise not an every visit thing. But when I saw her face when she saw the talking Mickey for the first time it was PRICELESS and well worth going to. Now I only waited 5 minutes, but it is well worth a wait.

My whole point is just because you don't like it, don't want it, or really just hate it, it doesn't mean there is not a need or demand for that thing. No park can please all fans with everything they do, they have to please the masses and those things stated in the original post please the masses that attend MK.

The reason why the Anna and Elsa M&G takes 3 hrs. is because of how low capacity the attraction is... everyone gets a few minutes with the characters, the characters have to take breaks every once in a while, etc.

A dark ride has more capacity which is why Snow White's Scary Adventures never got 3 hour waits.

Essentially, the Anna/Elsa M&G have a capacity equal to Ollivander's in Hogsmeade (which Diagon Alley will slightly solve by having 4 show rooms in theirs)

I do understand there's a need for M&Gs, but why not build one as a new addition rather than a replacement for a classic dark ride? Build a Frozen mini-land outside the berm after relocating some access roads, put Mary Poppins where Snow White is, add a M&G perhaps by Storybook Circus? If Big Thunder closed and was replaced with a Woody's Roundup kiddie coaster, people would be peeved. That's how replacing a dark ride with a girl-centric M&G appears.

M&Gs shouldn't be replacing full-blown attractions, but rather complimenting the area/atmosphere around them

I understand where you are coming from, but basically there was more room where the mine coaster went to build something better. So instead of putting a ride where scary was, they put the mine coaster in unused space (basically what you are proposing for the M&G) and closed scary for the M&G. So really you got a coaster for a dark ride. Just things got moved around so that the bigger footprint got the ride. The footprint for the dark ride was pretty small for a decent ride to be put in there.

Yeah probably the wrong time of the month for me to be debating things.

I didn't mean our opinions don't count or we each can't have an opinion and discuss it here. What I meant was that some people have an opinion like, "I don't like 3D screens, so there should be no attractions with 3D screens" or "I think M&Gs are dumb so there should be no more added". So then when one of the parks does something against that strong opinion we think it is the worse thing ever and we won't let it drop (like it coming up in threads like this). When in reality the majority of park goers enjoy these types of things. Which is why Uni keeps building things with 3D screens and why Disney keeps adding M&Gs for popular characters. Because they are very popular for their fanbase.

I just get sick of going into a thread and seeing people going off on Disney in a thread that has nothing to do with Disney. It is one thing to ease into a conversation and get their accidentally, but another to just open the conversation with a bash on Disney. And I think what bothers me about that is you turn off the people who do like Disney. I want this site to be successful and that means having people from all different backgrounds and likes/dislikes on here. So if you continue to :horse: you will lose the people who actually like the thing you are beating up. It is why most of the people here stopped going to Disney sites, they were sick of seeing Uni bashed every two seconds. My point was to rise above what they do, so we don't turn Disney lovers away.

I am stepping off my soapbox now and should stay off of it for a couple days..... :bolt:

Quick thought: we have speculated in the past that LOTR might go to IOA, but why not the Studios? I mean, if it took over Kidzone they would have a decent amount of room to play with and the expansion pad behind MIB to boot giving them tons of land if it proves popular. It also fits as the family land idea.

I believe that TDO's business model is broken and they are going to have a tough couple of years.

Yeah, my thought is a Shire and rivendell area in Kidzone, A misty mountains/moria type deal behind the simpsons that would allow tunnels underneath to allow the FFB staff to access backstage while eventually allowing guests to access the empty MIB plot. Then in the empty plot by MIB they could build Mordor, the two towers, the white city, or whatever. they could do it in stages that way. And eventually, if they really wanted they could expand through MIB and into the FFL area.

Never happen, but if a 3rd gate is out, its definitely the best area they have for doing a Full Middle Earth.

But LOTR doesn't fit with the urban locations connection (New York, London, Springfield, San Francisco, World Expo is kinda a Sci-fi City, Hollywood, Production Central).. I'd love to see Middle Earth come to life... in a 3rd gate.

IOA would be the best fit for it, moreso than USF. But there's really not much room in IOA unless they make room.

Only three options for LOTR at USO -

1. Replacement for Toon Lagoon (doesn't seem likely and isn't exactly a large area)
2. Plopped into the KidZone/MIB and Springfield plot areas (doubtful since Middle Earth would stick out next to all of the urban locales)
3. Anchor of a 3rd gate (most likely since they'll probably want to start Middle Earth from scratch)

If I offended some with the princess hug-o-rama, get over yourself. It's satire and it's a huge compliment to Disney and, although it's a part of Disney I hate, it's good business sense (I'm from the free roaming area that was in my opinion more "magical" but that is beside the point). People love to meet characters in well themed areas. I don't want Universal to stuff Kidszone full of meet and greets but more, highly themed, meet and greats are fun for kids, don't cost much and Universal needs them at every ride with characters. It would make the parks much more enjoyable for kids and people who like these kind of things.

There was no speculation that kidzone would become camp Minnie Mickey. Nobody was offended just baffled that random hate just poped up out of nowhere and for no reason

There is plenty of room in Toon for Middle Earth if they rework the shops and food areas...Dudley area could be Mordor...Popeye area could be a harbor location and empty theater area could hold a dark ride...There is no way to accurately represent the distance required between the lands in Middle Earth..

So now ParkScope and Orlando Informer are reporting that all of Diagon's construction crew will start on KidZone in September and not Jurassic Park?!?!
