Wow, very sad, but how can we be sure this is a legit product and not just a rip-off, from the pics looks very basic. I could buy a hard hat and etch this in it just to make a buck for that matter

Being a real hard hat wasn't the issue. I'm sure they handed out toy party hats at this event. Doesn't mean it's real or not. But it's such a unique item and the price is relatively low so I'd be surprised if someone faked it.
